Dropbox is downloading folders I chose not to sync

How do I stop dropbox from downloading every file known to man?! I've never had this much trouble!

I recently had to reinstall windows. I downloaded dropbox because it is convenient but I select only a handful of folders I want synced to save space and I'm guessing it waiting until I have downloaded everything before it then removes it. I have about three gigs I want to download and I have deselected every other file and folders and it has downloaded over 165 gb of files from folders I deselected! I have verified twice and it says it will sync and then continues to download files from folders I have deselected.

If I have to download every file file before it starts syncing properly, I will not be putting anything on dropbox. Somebody please tell me how to stop it from dowloading anymore than what I have selected?!

Hey smcllr, sorry to hear about this.

Did you deselect the folders in the selective sync preferences before syncing started or after?

If you did it after syncing had already started, this is expected, I'm afraid.

If syncing is still ongoing, both processes should be running now at the same time, so it might take some time, but the folders will be removed eventually.

Let me know if that's not the case, or if you have any more questions.
