Windows device connect/disconnect sound every minute

Windows device connect/disconnect sound every minute

I've had a recurring (nearly every minute) Windows device connect/disconnect sound since my desktop's last reboot, that I have traced back to the Dropbox client and a very long list of information events in the Event Viewer. They're all some variation of:

  • "Created Desktop AppX container..."
  • "Added process <pid number> to Desktop AppX container"
  • "Destroyed Desktop AppX container..."

Not sure why they're causing the notification sound every time, but I would like to be able to run the client without a constant stream of that sound, not to mention a split second of input interruption from keyboard/mouse input.

Any ideas?

Hi @evanskaufman, welcome to our Community!

As a first step, would you mind clarifying the exact OS you're using on your device?

Also, out of curiosity: if you quit our desktop app, do you notice the same behavior? Can you give this a go?

Update me with the results!

I am using Windows 10 Pro 22H2, and it does stop when I quit Dropbox. It does not immediately recur after starting Dropbox again, but it does eventually start happening again.

Hey @evanskaufman - sorry to jump in here, but could you try installing the latest, stable version of the desktop app from this page and let us know if the issue persists?

Hi Walter, I have updated to the latest build (188.4.6302) and the issue persists

Thanks for the info. If you're not on a Dropbox Basic plan with more than 3 devices connected, could you try an advanced reinstall of the app using the steps in this link?
