Why won't the Dropbox icon stay in my menu bar? How can I get it to stay there?

Hey @Warren J., have you tried reinstalling the app (without uninstalling it), to see if the icon gets back in your menu bar?

If it comes back, but keeps disappearing, I would also suggest uninstalling the app, restarting your computer and then reinstalling it.

Hi @Warren J., thanks for bringing this to our attention.

What OS version are you currently running on your device?

When you run the Dropbox desktop application, what version of the app are you running?

This will help me to assist further!

My Mac computer has Sonoma 14.5 installed, but I don't know how to determine the version of dropbox I'm using.

More importantly, for now, I see that the text file I want to convert into a URL has already been downloaded int Dropbox.

So, I now have two questions:

(1) Where is my Dropbox icon, and why won't it stay in the Menu bar?

(2) How to I convert the text message that is now in Dropbox into a URL?

(3) A Dropbox telelphone njmber would be the greatest gift off all.

(I just discovered that I have a Dropbox plus plan with 2MB of storage

Hey @Warren J.

If you check your menu bar, next to your WiFi, you should have a small, Dropbox icon there. When hovering your mouse over it, you should be able to find the version of the app that you're currently using.

Would you mind checking for the icon, and the version there?

In regards to your second question, I'm not entirely sure this is possible, and it sounds like outside my area of expertise. You can try researching online to see what you'll be able to find.

As for the phone Support, that is available to Business admins, however I'll forward your feedback to the appropriate areas so we can continue to improve.

Thanks!

That sounds like a great solution, one that even I can do. I'll try it. Thanks.

Maybe I'm wrong. Is the Dropbox icon supposed to STAY in the Menu bar?

Hannah

Yes, indeed, Warren.

The Dropbox icon is the indicator that the app is working/running and also the place where you can find all your app preferences, etc.
