Re: Not syncing with desktop

Syncing error on my Dropbox app, even though files show as "up to date".

Hi  - I read from other posts that the reason for DB to not sync with desktop is due to special characters like "|". I have rechecked the files in my DB online and they don't have those. So I don't get it why there's a syncing error since my DB app also shows "files are up to date" when in fact, it is not.

I'm afraid there's no other way to have these files to sync locally without renaming each one of them individually @GC12.

Give us an example of a full filename for a file that isn't syncing from your account online to your local drive.

Here you go:

The thing is, other folders with similar texts and characters are syncing, although it is not syncing completely.

Hey @GC12, thanks for posting here!

It seems these files have a : (colon) in their name. You can see more about all the invalid characters at this Help Center article.

Have you tried to rename them, and check if they'll sync afterwards?

Hi Megan,

Thanks for your input! I did try one file and now it syncs. Problem now is that almost all the files have colon in them. Do you know if there is a way to just change DB settings to allow this instead? Looking for an alternative solution rather than spending time to rename everything.
