Re: Sync icons are missing after MacOs Ventura update

Sync icons are missing after MacOs Ventura update

Hey everyone,

After I've updated my mac to Ventura, the Dropbox sync icons disappeared in my dropbox folder. Everything works fine, but when I have 2 folders opened I can't see which one is the Dropbox one and which one is the local one.

Is it a new UI choice ?

Thanks

Thank you both for your updates @Justin_S & @Archeowebby - much appreciated.

Can you please clarify where your Dropbox folder is located as shown in the app's preferences under the sync tab?

@Walter here's what I have:

It's just the top level home folder for my "user".

Thanks you both for the screenshots @Justin_S & @Archeowebby

Can you please follow these steps and let us know if they helped improve matters?

  1. Click on the Apple logo located at the top-left of the screen.
  2. Click on System Preferences. (MacOS Ventura: System Settings > Privacy & Security)
  3. Click on Extensions.
  4. Click on Finder Extensions.
  5. Only leave Dropbox Finder Integration ticked.
  6. Once this is completed suggest to close the window.
  7. Click one more time on the Apple logo at the top-left of the screen.
  8. Click on Force Quit.
  9. Look for Finder on the list.
  10. Click on Finder then Relaunch.

Well, that seems to have done it. I had a Surfshark extension turned on, apparently. Guess that means I can't have that turned on anymore?

Thanks, @Walter !

Hi @Walter ,

Dropbox seems to be the only active extension in my case:

"Finder extensions" status:

Glad to hear it's sorted now for you @Archeowebby - thanks for keeping me in the loop too.

As for you now @Justin_S, it looks like you're on the updated version of the desktop app for Mac OS so you might need to make the files with no icons online only and then local (available offline).

Let me know if this helps!

Hi @Walter,

I misread your note and made everything "available offline" first. After doing so, though, the icons are now working as expected.

Many thanks for the great help!

On a side note. I was also no longer seeing "Dropbox" under "Locations" in the finder's sidebar. Checking the "Cloud Storage" option under the sidebar tab in finder settings corrected the issue.
