Ever since I upgraded to Windows 10, and apparently dropbox changed from program to "app" (hate them vs. full programs), every time I shut down my computer, it sits and waits for a half minute or more for something called Sprig Electron View, and finally shuts down. Apparently this has something to do with dropbox. If I manually quit dropbox before shutting down, then shutdown works almost instantly. I want that instantly.
So, what is this program, can I remove it and still use dropbox, if so, how. Or how do I get it to stop holding up the shutdown command? Thanks.

The Dropbox desktop app hasn't changed. It's still a full application. Are you sure you installed the full app and not the "mobile" app that's available in the Microsoft Store? They don't work the same and are meant for different purposes.
Thanks, you're right, it's not an app from MS store after all, it's in my add/remove programs, which doesn't show apps, I believe, thanks.
Still trying to figure what this "Sprig Electron View" program that hold up my shutdown regularly is and if there's a way to not have it be so stubborn (about closing when windows tells it to) 🙂
I too am getting "Sprig Electron View" at shutdown, and I'm getting some performance slow down. Was there any resolution to this? Thanks!

Has anyone found an answer yet? I have the same problem and I see so far 9,180 people have viewed the opening post on this so it is obviously a big problem. Tried using the Dropbox online chatbot but that is a total waste of time. Can't find any way to actually ask a human at Dropbox for advice.
Hi everyone, I have used DB for many years and spotted this issue for the first time today during a Windows update. It took about 20 seconds to disappear and then the update completed normally. Why is everyone in such a rush these days? 😃
I got a reply from Dropbox and it worked so here is what they told me to do.
There appears to be a problem with the Dropbox software currently installed on your computer. I'm going to have you do a reinstall to attempt to fix the problem.
First, make sure you save and quit ALL programs that access files in the Dropbox folder.
Here are the steps:
1) Stop Dropbox (If needed):
- Click the Dropbox icon in the system tray at the bottom of your screen.
- Click on your profile picture or initials to the right of the search bar and select "Quit Dropbox".
2) Uninstall Dropbox:
Please note that if Dropbox was installed by a Windows administrator in Program Files, you will need admin permissions to remove the application.
- Click on the Start button on the bottom left of your screen, and type Control Panel at the Start screen or start menu, and click on it.
- Click "Uninstall a Program".
- Select Dropbox from the list of programs and click "Uninstall".
3) When the uninstall finishes, reboot your computer. This will make sure the uninstall is complete.
4) Installation errors such as these are usually the result of a failed download. Another common cause is the installer being blocked by a security suite, anti-malware or system optimization software, so you may want to keep anything like that temporarily disabled while you download and run the following installer instead: https://www.dropbox.com/downloading?plat=win&type=full
This file is larger than the standard Dropbox installer, so it may take longer to download through your browser, but it doesn't need to download anything during the install process, so it should complete successfully.
