In order o work more comfortably,

I would like to release C:// drive from Dropbox sync and instead starting using drive D://.

Which the process path ?

1/ Unsync

2/ Uninstall DB

3/ Reinstall DB

4/ Resync

Or there is another settings in the Dropbox tool I can modify to point into the D:// drive.

Thx in advance.

Gabriel

Hey @GabDun, I see, thanks for the info!

I would personally rename the Dropbox folder in the 😧 drive to something irrelevant, and then start the process again.

Once everything is complete, you can then remove the old Dropbox folder, and keep the current one.

Hi there, @GabDun, welcome to our Community!

You can move your Dropbox folder from your C to your D drive, by following the steps mentioned in this Help Center article.

Hi Megan,

Thank you for your feedback.

Actually it works fine, at least it started copying the content from C:// to D:// properly. Unfortunately the copy was taking hours and, at a certain point of time, the PC felt asleep or turned on Stdand-by or the connection was disrupted at about 50% of the transfer process time.

The challenge is that I am (Dropbox is) till using the  old C://user/xxx/ drive as reference ... and I already modified & add a couple of files since the hold/stop event. :-S

Last night, I tried to re-launched the same process (Dropbox App> Account> Preferences> Sync>Move ... but this time I am receiving an error message "This folder already contains a Dropbox directory" ... 😕

But the things is that D:// is not fully filled with content... I can only find the folders and few files "not in sync".

Question: How I can re-start/complete the transfer operation?

Thx

Rename the Dropbox folder on your D drive to Dropbox_OLD or similar, then start the process over again. Don't delete either Dropbox folder until the process is done and you're sure that all of your files are in the correct location.

Thx Megan and Rich,

The migration went well and I can now have access to the new "D://Dropbox" location.

Prudent I haven't deleted the "D://Dropbox_OLD" folder.

The reason is that I still see an active copy of all my content in the C://User/removed/Dropbox drive (?)

What shall I do to ensure that the C:// drive can be smartly released from all those files, eliminate redundancy of location?

(I will proceed with deleting "Dropbox_OLD" on the nes D:// drive only at the end of the process.

Thx for your advise.

Gabriel

Hi @GabDun, if you checked the app's preferences, and made sure that the Dropbox folder location is in your D drive, plus not seeing any syncing icons in your C: drive, then I think you're safe to delete the folder there.
