Hey there @therealsomeguy - how are you today?
Since you use macOS, you noticed requests for additional permissions, such as an authorization dialogue box requesting your computer username and password, a request to turn on Accessibility, or a request to turn on Automation.
Authorizing permissions with these dialogue boxes are required by macOS and they allow for the full functionality of Dropbox.
As per your inquiry now, I would suggest that you tried turning on "Accessibility" and then disable it should you wish not to keep it enabled - careful though as some of our features may not work as expected. These include the Dropbox badge, showing viewer info to people you share content with and better file syncing prioritization.
If you decline this request, Dropbox features may not work as expected.
Should you still wish to disable it after installation:
- Go to the Security & Privacy section of System Preferences.
- Click the Privacy tab.
- Click Accessibility in the menu.
- Click the lock icon to unlock your system preferences at which point you'll be asked to enter your computer's username and password (not your Dropbox username and password)
- Check the box beside the Dropbox icon to enable accessibility or uncheck to disable accessibility.
- Click the lock icon again to re-lock system preferences.
Give this a go for me please (i.e. enabling it and then disabling it following the steps I provided above) and let me know if this worked for you.
Thanks in advance for your reply and apologies for the lengthy reply. Oh, and happy October!
