Dropbox stuck endlessly on syncing (Mac OS 14.1.2), Dropbox 188.4.6302

For two days now, my Dropbox app on my Macbook Air has been stuck on "Syncing ..." I've tried:

- Rebooting the Mac

- Quitting and restarting Dropbox

... all to no avail.

Any suggestions, ideas, advice gratefully received.

Many thanks.

Hi @AndyGB, let's jump right into this!

Can you clarify the app's precise syncing status, when you hover your mouse over the little Dropbox icon,on the menu bar next to your WiFi?

Also, how long has this been happening?

Have you tried fixing your hardlinks and permissions as outlined here? And if so, does syncing get stuck at the exact same number of files again?

Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Hi Megan,

Thanks for your reply.  I've attached a screenshot showing what hovering over the Dropbox icon produces:

All this started last week — I wasn't doing anything different that day, just working on a couple of Word files. Then as I went to close down my laptop at the end of the evening, I noticed Dropbox was still syncing. So I left it for a few hours — and it was still syncing. And here we are a week later ... and it's still just "syncing".

Thanks for any advice/suggestions.

BTW, I also ran "Fix Hardlinks" and "Fix Permissions" from Dropbox App > Settings > Account.

Amazing! I just for luck ran "Fix Permissions" a second time and it's fixed! Syncing now complete ...
