Give us the option to export/download comments

It would be extremely helpful to have the ability to download a PDF (or image, or other file types) with comments included. Alternatively, could there be a way save out just the comments as it's own downloadable format? If a file is changed, the comments disappear into the ether.

This would help streamline our workflow and help keep track of changes/comments/conversations. Currently we screenshot every page with comments to keep track of edits.

Thank you

This would be key for archival / compliance requests as well.

+1! At least allow us to get comments via an API endpoint, so that we can archive and search for them in our own databases or custom tools.

+1, this would be very useful for examining academic texts (e..g PhD thesis viva).

YES, this is essential! I work in publishing and authors like the comment feature, BUT you've made it into a task for us to TRACK the changes. We all need tracking for legal reasons and responsibility. It's NOT useful to download the comments IN the PDF (like PDF commenting) - but rather to be able to download either a text file OR a PDF (archival record) of the comment list is absolutely essential AND it's NOT hard to do. Why haven't you yet?

YES. +1 to API endpoint as well. Comments need to integrate with productivity apps too, to show up as to-do lists/action items that can be assigned, tracked and calendared. Asana, Notion, Sunsama, Todoist, etc

Sometimes we need to share commented docs outside of our organisation with folks that do not use Dropbox (or any cloudservices at all) an export function of the comments would be very helpful in those cases. It would probably also increase the likelihood of people inside our organisation agreeing to use this function rather than the commenting functions that Office, Acrobat, etc have build into their software.

I would like to be able to download the comments made on a video file as a .pdf or .doc

Another vote for this idea. My clients add comments which are then 'trapped' on dropbox, no way to get them out. We need to be able to export comments, ideally both as a separate file AND embedded in the PDF like regular PDF comments. The latter is important for then merging with other PDF comments into a master file.
