How do I leave a team after joining one?

A customer of mine wanted to share some of his construction files, to which he sent me a link.  When I clicked on the link, it merged all of my files with his, which isn't what I wanted to do.  Now I need to disconnect our joint files.  Need help.

Hi myckey2u, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

It sounds like you've joined a Dropbox Business team.

This post should help on what to do next to leave the team.

I was recently asked to join a client's dropbox.  Dropbox gave me two options (to combine accounts or keep separate), and honestly, I was not clear on what they were stating.  I ended up combining the account, thinking I just got to see files in my account.  Turns out my account and my client's account got melded together. It created my own folder within my client's account.  How can I separate our account and leave this group?

It sounds like you were invited to and joined their Business team account. When doing so, you merged your account into their team account, effectively making them the owner of your account.

In order to leave the team you need to contact the team admin and ask them to convert your account back to an individual account. It's very important that they don't just remove you from the team as doing so would delete your account. If that were to happen they only have seven days to restore your account. They must convert it back to an individual account.
