How can I leave a Dropbox Business team?

Right. I have full confidence in regards to the plan and account side and sorting that out just fine. My main concern is whether there is any ownership/permissions change that happens once accepting a teams invite (access to pre-existing files from my personal account). I have YEARS worth of files that, as of now, haven't changed, and don't want to risk the Admin having access to them as they are not related to the client (Admin) whatsoever.
Hi willuper
If you become part of a Business Team then they 'own' your account and as such all of the files and data within it. They could, at any point, delete your account and you'd loose it all. While they cannot 'see' the data as such via the Dropbox website there is an option for them to log in as you and thus view all your data if they so wished.
Personally I'd set up a second account and use that as the one to join the team. You can link the two together so you can view two on your computer at one time if needed 🙂

I was recently invited to join a Dropbox Team and when I joined I was told by Dropbox that my original subscription was canceled. Now I've been told by the Team I was invited to join that they will be removing me from the team. I never wanted my original subscription canceled and I don't know how to fix this because I get other files by way of Dropbox and I do still need it. Do I have to open a new Dropbox account, or is there another way to avoid not being able to use Dropbox?

First, make sure the team admin knows that they need to convert your account back to an individual account. If they just remove you from the team your account will be deleted. If that happens, the team admin has just 7 days to restore the account, after which they would need to convert it.
I never wanted my original subscription canceled and I don't know how to fix this ...You were given a prorated refund when the subscription was cancelled by joining the team. Once your account has been converted back to an individual account, you can just resubscribe to a paid plan.
This happens because when you join a Business team account, you're merging your account into the team account, using one of their licenses and effectively making them the owner of your account.

Thank you for your prompt response. I have notified the team administrator and, hopefully, this will all be straightened out. I have saved this response, and again, thank you for explaining the problem and solution for me.
