Microsoft to create an option to set the default way for a document to open to the desktop app.
Now that Microsoft office co-authoring via desktop app has been integrated into dropbox, please implement an option to set the default way for a document to open to the desktop app. This offers a superior editing experience compared to the browser-based Microsoft web app, which does not always display formatting correctly.
The ability to do this is already available when viewing the file on dropbox.com but we are currently unable to set as a default action.

I am pretty sure this is the default option as long as Dropbox is installed and running locally AND the folder the file is in is sync'd to the machine - although it doesn't need to be set to available offline, just set to sync (i.e. so not set as Selective Sync).

Yes when opening a file from the finder/desktop this is functioning correctly, however my feature request is specifically for files opened from dropbox.com or in our usage case, using dropbox integrated into Salesforce which opens the file through dropbox.com (and uses the app default settings there).
This is also applicable to sharing documents - right now to share a document in a way that allows the end user to edit using their desktop app, it's a two step process where they need to open the link, select open with inside their browser, and select their desktop app. Being able to set the desktop app as the default on the web portal would allow for more seamless sharing and collaboration (without having to use Microsoft Sharepoint for example).
