Change Dropbox folder location on Google Drive

So any Google docs (e.g. Sheets) on Dropbox are now just links to the actual file located in a 'Dropbox' folder in 'My Drive' on Google. Is there a way to move that 'Dropbox' folder to a 'Shared drive'? Our team collaborates using 'Shared drives' (vs. 'My Drive', which is used for personal files only).

Hey Xelar, thanks for posting on our Community and happy Monday!

This question would be more suitable for a Google (Drive) forum, but I was able to find this article that might help with what you had in mind.

For more information you can reach out to Google directly.

I hope this helps a tad.

Thanks, Walter! I'm familiar with using Shared drives on Google (incl. moving folders/files from My Drive to Shared drives. I believe my questions has more to do with how Dropbox handles Google docs.

When Dropbox started to move all Google docs back to Google drive (and replaced the Google doc with a link), it was Dropbox that automatically created a 'Dropbox' folder on 'My Drive'. That's the folder where all the Google docs were moved to, and where newly created Google docs (created on Dropbox) are being stored.

I tried moving that 'Dropbox' folder to one of our Google Shared drives, then creating a Google doc via Dropbox. But it gives me a "Could not find file or folder" error message. So it seems Dropbox can currently only use 'My Drive' to store Google docs.

My question was if there is any way to use a 'Shared drive' - instead of 'My Drive'.

      Thanks!

Hi Xelar, I wouldn't recommend making any changes to the folder, since it could result in the connection being lost on the Dropbox site, or at worst, data deletion due to the files no longer existing in the same folder or structure.
