Will the files I sync to Dropbox be affected by Dropbox Backup?

When I first started using Dropbox, it was because I wanted to backup my files.

With the introduction of Dropbox Backup...does it mean those files are no longer safe? I want to not use backup, but am worried for my current files.

It is going to take me 32 hours to backup everything, which means 32 hours of not being able to use my computer (it is sloooow when downloads/uploads are happening)

Hi there, evila_elf, and thanks for posting to our Community today!

Just to clarify things a bit, the Backup feature allows you to back up your desktop folders (Desktop, Downloads, Documents) to Dropbox.

You don't have to enable it, if you don't want those folders backed up to your Dropbox.

Also, the backup doesn't affect the files you have already synced to Dropbox, which you can find in your local Dropbox folder and here.

These two are basically two separate things.

If you want an overview of the backup feature, you can take a look here, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

    Thanks!
