So I raised this to Dropbox support and got an email saying the latest version resolves this issue. Well I just installed the latest version and it's not resolved at all! Dropbox is still interfering with MS Office causing refreshes which subsequently close down sub menus.
Think it's time to bin dropbox and try another program....
Bye Dropbox, maybe learn to stop your software interfering with other software.

Still continue to have lockups throughout the company. Killin the dropbox process allows the user to use their computer -- otherwise ctrl-alt-del does not even work. All clients running Windows 10 64bit. One user could not even get to DB preferences in time to turn off badge before the machine would lock up. Current version is 34.4.20.
No MS Office were running at the time either.
It's embarassing for me as their IT guy -- can't believe it's gone on this long.
- Ross_S8 years agoDropbox StaffHi DWMT
That doesn't sound like its connected to an issue with badge though. It sounds more like a software conflict. I'd go about a process of elimination of disabling or starting without extra programs running to identify where the issue is.
Hope this helps you.

Hi Ross,
Been there done that -- no other programs running, disabled antivirus, etc...
The "fix" is to disable the badge. If we are quick enough at login time, we can get to the preferences and change the badge to never show.
The problem goes away but everyone loses something they used frequently.
