Hello arrysaa
Could you please try the following?
1. Download ProcessMonitor from the Microsoft website (SysInternals)
2. When ProcessMonitor starts, in the "Process Monitor Filter" window set the following filters:
- "Process Name" "is" "Dropbox.exe" then "Include" -> click "Add"
- "Path" "contains" "vcruntime140.dll" then "Include" -> click "Add"
3. Click "OK"
4. Press Ctrl+X on your keyboard to clear the logs
5. Start Dropbox
6. Take a screenshot of what the logs in ProcessMonitor show after trying to start Dropbox. Please make sure the "Result" column is visible in the screenshot.
7. Reply to this forum thread with the screenshot.
Performing the above steps should help us figure out why Dropbox is not able to locate that DLL on your computer.
Looking forward to your reply,
Andrew (DBoxTips)

Just install Dropbox Desktop Client Dropbox 194.4.6267 Offline Installer.x86 - the installation is complete but when I execute Dropbox.exe - the same error message still appears
So I can't monitor Dropbox.exe via ProcessMonitor tools as it doesn't get loaded - only DropboxCrashHandler.exe and DropboxUpdate.exe loaded.
- DBoxTips12 months agoExperienced | Level 12Thank you for trying that. Since you didn’t attach the screenshot of the logs list in the ProcessMonitor, does this mean the list was empty?
If so, could you please try removing the “Process Name” “is” “Dropbox.exe” filter in Process Monitor, clear the logs (Ctrl+X) then try starting Dropbox once again and let me know if the logs list in Process Monitor is still empty?
Please note the Process Monitor is just a tool to monitor your attempts of starting Dropbox. Even if Dropbox cannot get started, the attempts of Windows to load vcruntime140.dll needed for starting Dropbox should still be logged in Process Monitor.
Could you please try that and send a screenshot of the logs list from Process Monitor?
Thanks,

Andrew,
Dropbox installation window (Dropbox 194.4.6267 Offline Installer.x86 - is this the latest stable version?) is disappeared when the installation is progressing as if the process is incomplete - though we can see the Client folder exists but when we execute Dropbox.exe - the error message shows Dropbox.exe - System Error ....\194.4.6267\vcruntime140.dll was not found. I have checked through ProcessMonitor there is no such Dropbox.Exe running and vcruntime140.dll - the only process loaded and running DropboxCrashHandler and DropboxUpdate.
- DBoxTips12 months agoExperienced | Level 12Are you sure you are looking into ProcessMonitor instead of ProcessExplorer? They have similar names, both from Microsoft / Sysinternals, so they can be easily confused.
ProcessExplorer displays a list of running processes, while ProcessMonitor displays a log of file, registry and network operations. If you set a filter in ProcessMonitor to include only file operations and filter the ones which contain “vcruntime140.dll” in the “Path” column, do you get any log entries in the ProcessMonitor list of logged operations?

The latest stable version of Dropbox at this point is 195.4.4995
You should be installing the "Offline Installer (64 Bit)", since from the screenshot you sent above in this forum thread I understand your system is 64-bit.
Here is the official Microsoft page for Process Monitor.

Andrew,
Let me try with 64-bit version and let you know the installation result.
- arrysaa12 months agoExplorer | Level 4
Andrew,
I install 64-bit Dropbox Desktop Client ver "Dropbox 195.4.4995 Offline Installer.x64" also "VC_redist.x64" (for vcruntime140.dll 64-bit) - the same error messages when I execute "Dropbox.exe"
I also activate ProcessMonitor with Process is Dropbox.exe and Path contains vcruntime140.dll
then I execute Dropbox.exe and the result as shown below
No Dropbox Client on Taskbar shown as previously appeared whenever Dropbox.exe is executed.

I got the same error and the same problem but running Win 11 Home. Has a solution found yet?
- Hannah10 months ago

Sorry to hear that, FrankFlorida.
Would you mind sending us a screenshot of the error and also of the Dropbox sync status and version?
The latter will be found by hovering over the Dropbox icon in your system tray (as long as the icon is there of course).

Hey there boazamr, let's jump right into this!
Have you tried these steps that my colleague provided earlier during this discussion?
Feel free to clarify if you've followed any of the steps mentioned throughout this thread, in order for us to be on the same page about the troubleshooting that you've followed.
Keep me posted!

Megan,
I had raised initially on this issue "Dropbox failed to uninstall on Win 10" initially since last March and until today - there is no fixed solution.
I had a series of communication with the Community group to get this issue resoution.
Please go through all discussion in this Community support group and I had followed all steps as requested and provided the snapshot screen of the issue. Already tried to uninstall with Admin priviledge and ended up with "Dropbox failed to uninstall" and I had to perform uninstall Dropbox cleanly via the uninstall tool "Revo Uninstaller" - then reinstall it again with Admin priviledges- the installation continued and suddenly disappeared and the installation's incomplete. There is no Dropbox icon on Taskbar and when executing Dropbox.exe got and the error message pop-up showing "Dropbox.exe - System Error - The code execution cannot proceed because C:\Program Files(x86)\Dropbox\Client\199.4.6287\VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." Checked the file on the located path above - actually vcruntime140.dll exists.
Please help on the resolution of this issue.... am running Windows 10 Home edition 64-bit on my personal Dell laptop.

Hi arrysaa, I did just that and it seems that we're trying to rectify this for quite some time.
I was also able to locate one of your latest ticket number -#23494369- and it seems that it closed due to inactivity, and the troubleshooting wasn't continued there.
I'd like to send you a new ticket, in order for it to be re-escalated to our Advanced agents, in order to continue working with them there, now that you're feeling better. Is that okay?
- arrysaa10 months agoExplorer | Level 4Megan,
That's fine .... you can open the new ticket to rectify the issue.
Rgrds,
Arry
