MacOS: No "Dropbox" in the "Location" settings of Finder
I have updated Dropbox on MacOS (12.6.5), and I have learned that I should know be able to see "Dropbox" in Finder on the left hand pane under 'Locations'. However there is no such entry; 'Locations'...

Hey rovf, thanks for letting us know about this.
Can you please hover your mouse over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar, to see the sync status and the version of the app?
Also, if you go to ~/Library/CloudStorage, are you able to find the Dropbox folder?
Let me know and we'll go from there.

How is this a solution? I simply cannot get the Dropbox icon back on the menu bar or under location in Finder. Uninstall or advance reinstall does not work either.

Hey LaiPeng, let's jump right into this!
Can you clarify your device's OS? Also, when did this start happening on your end?
Are you talking about the bigger Dropbox icon that re-directs you to your Dropbox folder , or the smaller one next to your WiFi ?
Keep me posted!

MacOS Sequoia 15.2. There are two problems:
1. Dropbox icon on the menu bar on the top right of the screen is missing. This is the one next to the Wifi.
2. In Finder, dropbox is normally identified under locations on the left but it is not there. Under favourites I have one dropbox icon in blue that takes me to the folder and... two dropbox folder (folder icon) taking me to my work dropbox and personal dropbox. All of them take me to the dropbox folders.- Buel5 days agoExplorer | Level 3
This was resolved for me, but the solution wasn't posted to the thread because I eventually communicated with support via email. The ticket number is 23278843 and the solution follows. BTW, it happened again after updating to OS 15.1.1 and was resolved with steps 1-2 below.
1. Reinstall Dropbox
2. Restart
3. Confirm Dropbox folder is in the proper location (see below).
4. If not, follow instructions below to run a script that moves the folder and creates an alias.Hi Dan,
Thanks for contacting the Dropbox Advanced Support team, my name is Ned and I'll be assisting you today, taking over for my colleague Ben,
I appreciate your response and further confirmation, based on your response, I suspect we may still have some issues remaining on your side, as although it may appear to be working now, the folder should be moved to ~/Library/CloudStorage per: https://help.dropbox.com/installs/macos-support-for-expected-changes
I wonder if you can follow these steps ;
- Open your Terminal application.
- The Terminal pathway on updated macOS computers is /Applications/Terminal.app
Note: If you can’t find the Terminal app, check the Utilities folder.
- The Terminal pathway on updated macOS computers is /Applications/Terminal.app
Firstly run this command: fileproviderctl domain list
Providing the resulting output in your response.
Secondly, Open a new Terminal window, and run the following command; pluginkit -mDvA -p com.apple.fileprovider-nonui
Once again providing the output for this command once complete,
I look forward to your response and confirmation,
Regards,
Ned - Open your Terminal application.
