Cannot link Dropbox Mac desktop app with my account - ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE
Hi,
I have installed the Dropbox app on a new Mac mini. Previously I had it on my Macbook.
However, everytime I try to link the app to my account, so it syncs automatically, I get the ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE error.
Here are the steps I take to get the error
- Click on the Dropbox icon in the top bar
- Click the settings wheel
- Click 'sign in'
- New window appears
- Click 'Open sign in'
- Browser opens new page: API request authorization
- Now it reads
- Dropbox would like to:
- Connect with your Dropbox account.
- Cancel/Allow
- I click 'allow'
- Then I see a new page with the error
- This site can’t be reached
- https://dropbox.com/desktop/oauth2?code=.... is unreachable
- ERR_ADDRESS_UNREACHABLE
I have tried
- Restarting the Mac multiple times
- Connected to my phone to test if the connection is the problem
- Uninstalled, restarted and newly installed the app
- Tried Chrome and Safari
- Tried googling the problem
- Unlinked every app and device linked to my account
- Sign out of my account
The problem persists.
I do not know what else to do. Can anybody help?
It started working again.
I did not change anything.
Thanks for your help

Same problem here. Contacted support, got the usual "deactivate anti virus apps" response. I clean installed the current osx on my macbook, now I cannot login and install dropbox. Sounds strange, that the same day you have the same problem.

Having the same issue since yesterday.
Tried everything above as well.
Tried on my MacMini as well as on my MPB - same error. - WalterDropbox Staff
Hi all, sorry to hear you'e having issues with this.
Could you let us know your device's exact OS version and send us a screenshot of the error as well so that we can have a visual?
Any additional information is more than welcome!
