Suddenly I'm over by 3.5GB when it comes to storage.

Can someone help me figure out what happened? I've had 6.2GB since I can remember. I'm part of a group that uses a lot of dropbox so I assume that's it but how can I find out for sure? If I look in recent activity there's nothing from yesterday. Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Megan, I'm all set. By your suggestion of going to the events page, I was able to go to the person that uploaded to a shared folder, ask them to totally remove my access and re-do my access to only the parts of that folder that I need. Done. I'm back down to around 3 of my 6GB capacity.

One thing I didn't understand along the way was, on the page that describes how to temporarily remove my access, it says...log in, hover over the folder, click the elipsis, and click delete. That actually deleted the file completely. Glad I tested it first. Seems like I misunderstood the instruction but it seemed straight forward. Thanks for your help!

Hey Mark R.76, let's jump right into this!

As a first step, could you please have a look at your account's plan tab and let me know what's reported there?

Did you have any promo space on your account? That is usually time-limited & www.dropbox.com/events may show it.

If none of that helps, then we'd need a support ticket for you, to see more of what's going on, so please check if you can open one here: https://www.dropbox.com/support

If you have any trouble opening a ticket, just let me know!

Hi Megan, in the plan tab...
Using 9.7 GB of 6.25 GB
      Regular files (611.8 MB)Backup (0 bytes)Shared files (9.1 GB)
So there it is, shared files. What does that really mean? Can I still access the shared files? I don't want to upgrade. Is there a way to selectively access shared files? Thanks!

Hey Mark R.76, thanks for the speedy response!

You should be able to have a look at your shared content here

From there, you can choose which files/folders you need, and remove your access from the ones that aren't necessary to you by following these steps.
