I’d like to know if this is still accurate. I seem to remember reading that a file could be ”duplicated” to other folder locations without the actual file content being duplicated in storage by having pointers to the original file placed in the different folders. If this isn’t bwing done, why not?

Hi NMPC_musicsupport, currently, this feature isn't possible on the Dropbox service, since any duplicates would take up quota on your account.
AS to the reason why, I wouldn't be able to say. If you wish, you can suggest this change for others to vote on, so the dev team can look into this in future!
