Can I Get Lost Files Back From A Closed Group Account?
Someone I was working with that didn't understand how to use Dropbox sent me some files a few months ago. In order to retrieve those files, I was forced by the system to join the group that guy created (I had never heard of 'groups' on Dropbox even though I have used Dropbox for years). Now he has deleted that group. Dropbox said my account/file was saved but I cannot find it. The account I am writing this from appears to be totally new and none of my files are in it. I am on a basic account (free account), so I cannot reach out to Dropbox support. I want to find my old account from before I joined that stupid group that other guy created and then deleted. How can I find my original account from before that group forced me to join it? My files should still be there since Dropbox says my file was saved. If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate the advice and help. None of the 'categories' listed on this form seem to apply to my question, so I don't even know if I am posting this in the right place. If not, please advise me where to repost this. Thanks.

Hi yeswolf
The only person who can get the files back is the owner of the Team (or Business Account) and IF they saved them. When they remove accounts from a Team they are given the option to save data or remove it. If its removed they have 7 days to change their mind otherwise its permanently lost.
