My files do not sync
I have a free dropbox account and am also part of a shared folder from someone else's plan. He is currently upgrading his plan but in meantime my files which are less than 2.00 GB do not sync. Why?

The issue is the same - the shared folders use your quota.
Unless you are a paid member of the family plan (and that plan is currently paid) you need to have enough quota for YOUR files AND his.
His upgrade does not benefit you in anyway.

No. I have my own files and folders and I cand also see, access and modify in his folder (it's a Family Room folder his). So his Family Room folder appears aside my folders and files in my dropbox. But for 4 days he is struggling to upgrade his plan and in this mean time, my dropbox folder does not sync, it stays with a white x in a red circle, although my files are 1.52 GB, the rest are online only.

Thank you for your answer. So it is clear to me now that my files will not update until he upgrades. Therefore I will wait or create a different account on which to migrate my current files and keep the actual account only for his Family Room.
Peace!

One thing just as a reminder is that you can only sync one account on a device at a time - so if you do create a second account only one will be able to go on your computer and mobile devices etc. and sync 🙂

Sure, I understand. Most probably I will wait for my coleague's dropbox to finish upgrading. Migrating docs to another account is just going to happen if it takes more than two weeks or so.
Anyway: thank you very much for this information also. The whole chat was very helpful for me.
All the best!
