missing folders from a shared folder
Hi all! Data has disappeared from the shared directory...... Part of the shared directory and sub directory disappeared. The missing directories are not even in the deleted folders (trash). This app...

I finally accepted this solution. I re-uploaded the missing files to the shared directory. I was able to get them from a TimeMachine (MacBook) backup in an older version.
Thank you for all for cooperations and advise.

What is www.dropbox.com/events showing?

only a few files (on the order of drives) were shown to have been deleted. For 99% there is no record of erasure.

Hey Bridewell, sorry to hear about this.
I would suggest checking your events page, to see if you can find any events related to that shared folder.

Maybe the MacBook update had an effect? Sonoma 14.0 . File indexing took a long time. A cloud icon appeared on the shared directories at that time.

Hey tomasewski, sorry to jump in here, but can you clarify if you're able to find any sign of this subfolder in your events page?
Did any member of the shared folder move or delete the subfolder in question?
If you're looking at your computer, have you made sure that the desktop app is up to date in your menu bar/system tray and not still syncing?

I can not you find any sign of this subfolder in events page
Any member of the shared folder don't move or delete the subfolder. We are two members of a shared directory. The shared data is also missing from the colleague.
The desktop app is up to date in menu bar/system tray and syncing is to end. In the desktop app's sync history, I can see that only about 9 individual files have been deleted.

Something similar happened to me soon after updating to MacOS Sonoma 14. Folders moved from our shared folder structure to unexpected locations and were no longer accessible to teammates. I've been slowly trying to move everything back into place, but it was a lot of files and is taking a long time. Is this a known issue and are there ways to prevent it from happening again when I update other computers in the office?
