Make available offline no longer downloads files

Hi there,

I'm using DropBox (v159.4.5870) on MacBook Pro 2019 (Monterey 12.6).

Yesterday evening I used smoothly DropBox all the evening long, until the "make available offline" function suddenly stopped working: it no longer downloads locally any file. Otherwise DropBox is working fine: it still synces new files, it synces updates I make on existing files, and it allow me to delete files, but it can't download locally the files I have online.

I made no operating system updates in the evening, no restarting, etc. It just stopped working without any apparent reason or event.

I tried to restart my Mac, but nothing changed.

Then I tried to log out from DropBox and then log in again, but nothing changed as well.

What can I do? Please don't suggest to uninstall and reinstall.

UPDATE: the problem persist only with my home WiFi network. I tried download files with my iPhone connection and it works. But the strange thing is that my home WiFi network work pretty fine with anything else: browsing the internet, YouTube, download files from the internet, etc. It just doesn't download files from DropBox.

Thanks,

Vanni

  • Hey vrovera, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Since you've figured out that the issue is connected to your home WiFi network, can you try restarting your router, to see if that helps?

Or try disconnecting and reconnecting your WiFi on the computer.

Let me know what you find.

I had the very same problem as Vanni (vrovera) above – same timeframe (all was fine during the day, then, starting from the evening on, all online-only files were inaccessible – and indeed, the OP username makes me think we are on the same timezone/country), same machine, same OS, same Dropbox version. I restarted the WiFi router and everything was fine again. So, thank you Vanni (and Hannah) for suggesting that the problem could be the router!
