dropbox-NamespaceExtensionRole.Personal
My Drop box changed its name to: dropbox-NamespaceExtensionRole.Personal and doesn't sync with my account. What's the problem and how do I correct it? Thanks
Thanks for the responses. I decided to try to reinstall DB on this computer, that's giving me problems. To ensure I didn't lose any data I copied the folder to the hard drive on my computer. After that, and for whatever reasons, DB corrected itself, synced with my account in the cloud and renamed itself. DB continues to work well again.
I'm relieved this situation is resolved.

- MarkSuper User IIWe need some more info here please Brent - as a start version number of Dropbox (you can get this if you mouse over its icon on the status bar)? OS?

I'm not sure what version of DB I have, but I have Windows 10. I found I had the same issue when I checked my DB files this morning. By shear luck my DB directory changed back to "Dropbox" when I opened Dropbox from the Start Menu.
I normally open File Explorer. Now when I open File Explorer, the proper name of "Dropbox" appears.
Hope this helps.
- MarkSuper User IIIf you can mouse over your Dropbox icon on the status bar (i.e. the bit near the clock) it will tell you what version number it is :)

Just had this same issue, which apparently I was able to resolve.
Windows 10, Dropbox 25.4.28
Cliff notes at the bottom.
In the explorer window on the left side of any open folder, the dropbox folder was dropbox-NamespaceExtensionRole.Personal. It opened from this folder and looked normal, except for the name. However if I tried to click on the dropbox folder from the desktop, it would never open. I tried to reinstall it, and my computer just got really weird! Lagged down, took a long time to install, rearranged the icons on the desktop, and it still wasn't able to open the folder. I uninstalled Dropbox (there were 2 instances of Dropbox in the uninstall menu) and restarted my computer. There was a folder named "Dropbox" in the file explorer, which had all my files in it, it just wasn't connected to the Dropbox server anymore due to the uninstall. Then through the dropbox app on my phone, I went to settings/connect a computer. This lead me through a process which ultimately downloaded a new dropbox installer on my computer. Ran the installer, which went very well, signed in at the prompt, and everything seems to be fine!
Cliff notes: A complete uninstall and then reinstall with a fresh installer from the website should fix it.
I just purchased and installed Norton Anti-Virus with internet security, I wonder if this caused any issues?

HI,
I keep on having this problem every month or two - I keep deleting dropbox and reinstall it and it works, and then two months later, it's back to dropbox-NamespaceExtensionRole.Personal and it doesn't sync with my account.
What's the problem and how do I PERMANENTLY correct it? Thanks a lot!
Manny
