basic dropbox saves everything to cloud!

I suddenly get a notification that basic dropbox is almost full (1.8 GB of 2 GB), because it is saving everything to cloud.....I don't want anything saved to cloud, but I can find no way to set it to stop this.  I asked in CHAT three times, but he never once answered me....maybe because he is in SALES.....?
