Over quota and cannot edit documents, read only available
I have a basic account and I am over quota. I have just noticed that all my documents are now read only, so I can't edit them in dropbox. Is this because I am over quota as it has only just started h...

It's always been the case, and hasn't changed. You can still technically edit files in your Dropbox folder on your computer, since they are still normal files on your computer, however, they will not sync to the site automatically until the account is underquota.

Hi marketing5, thanks for messaging the Community.
This would be correct in a certain way, when an account is overquota, it wouldn't be possible to edit any files since the changes wouldn't sync to the site, until the account is underquota.
It doesn't make the files read-only, but there would be no changes visible until some space is freed up.
If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

Hi Jay
Thanks very much for your prompt reply and confirming what I thought. Is this a recent thing? The only reason I ask that is that I didn't realise my account was over-quota (and it has been for a while it seems) but until last week I was still able to edit and sync files, then suddenly it stopped.
