All my files in my Dropbox folder are gone. What can I do?
All my files in my dropbox folder are gone.
Have no idea what I did.
Dropbox chat support is not working.
I tried the goback but that is not working.
How do I get my files...

While we can't check this kind of info through the Community, for security reasons, can we send you an email, so we can take a closer look internally?

It's very old university e-mail. I'm not a student for 14 years now. The university deleted that e-mail. You can check it finishes with edu. Is there anything else we can do?

I think I'm on a brand new account. My old account must have been deleted, because it says my e-mail is unverified and I cannot change e-mail to current one. Crazy thing is I was logged in with my (old) dropbox on my phone and I used to stream some videos or photos from time to time!
What are my options?
UPDATE: I was able to change e-mail to my current one, but then I was able to register my old-account email again. So it seems for some reason old account got deleted...
Are there any possible options that can save my files from the deleted account? - z_mge11 months agoExplorer | Level 4
I'm lost beyond words. This is insane

I have no idea how, but half of the files showed up in "Shared" section of the new account. So I'm guessing even thought the old account is deleted the files are not.... I just downloaded 9GB's!
Can you double check with the team maybe? If other files can be salvaged?

Hi from me too, z_mge. Please kindly note that we don’t have any account visibility on the forum, so we can’t see info of your Dropbox account.
If you open the shared settings of your files/folders, do you see which email address they’ve been shared by? If you see them under the Shared tab, then they’ve been shared by another Dropbox account with your current one.

I have no idea how this is working, but the files that are showing up in "Shared" section, should have been deleted with the account that I was trying to restore.
Where do I see which e-mail shared the folder? Cannot find it anywhere. Any info I can share with you so you can provide additional support?

Hi z_mge, if you log in to dropbox.com and hover over the folder and click the “…” (ellipsis) then you can click Share.
Click Share with Dropbox. Click Who can access that way you can see the members of each folder. However, if the original account that the folders/files came from has been deleted, then our hands are tied.
Additionally, you mentioned that you no longer have access to either the email address linked to the account, or the account itself, which isn't ideal for us too.
Provided you could use the email in order for us to create a support ticket, then we should have more visibility to the edits, and files there.
But now, even if we switched to email communication, we would only see info from what you consider to be the new Dropbox account that you opened on your end.
