You can try searching for the steps on the internet depending on the app you're using, Tom.
As for the Dropbox mobile app on iOS, to clear your cache, you can follow the steps listed below:
1. Navigate to the “Personal” tab
2. Tap the gear icon in the upper-left corner of the screen
3. Select “Clear Cache”
Once this is done then please ensure you log out of the Dropbox application, then restart your device and log back in again.

Thanks Walter for your fast response. Attached are three screen shots showing the video as it appears in Dropbox files, the video in the Dropbox "Save as" screen, and the video as it lands in the Photo app. I wonder if the problem is in the Photo app itself. (It may discard the thumbnail and filename.) I'm not sure that Dropbox is the villain in this scenario. The iPhone has iOS 16.6. The Dropbox is 342.2.2. Thanks for your help!

Hmmm. Your questions got me experimenting. Interestingly, it happens with some videos, but not all. Some videos get a thumbnail built into them when saved. Some (I guess) do not. The problem does not seem to be with Dropbox.
I don't know how to clear a cache in an iPhone app, so I didn't try that.

I was able to clear the cache. Thanks so much for your patient support. It’s one more thing that makes a Dropbox an outstanding product. I now understand much more about how dropbox relates to other applications. I am closing out this thread, and marking it as a solution.
