How to download large files and folders from Dropbox

The File is too large to download message is referring to the limits for downloading a folder of files, which is 1GB in size or containing 10,000 files. Anything above those limits will produce an error if they try to download the folder whole. Instead they would need to download the individual files within the folder.
An alternative solution would be for you to Zip the folder ahead of time and providing a link directly to the Zipped file. Share links to a file have no size limitations (other than the size of your account) like those for a folder. Also, if they have a Dropbox account with enough available space to hold the folder, they can select the Add to my Dropbox option to have the folder automatically saved to their Dropbox account.
Another limitation to be mindful of is the amount of bandwidth used daily for your share links. Basic accounts have a total of 20GB of bandwidth and Plus accounts have 200GB. This is per day on a 24-hour sliding window.

While we don’t know what could be released in the future, I can forward this suggestion to the dev team for their consideration so they can look into this possibility to improve the service when using the Dropbox site!

Seriously this is such a round about way of fixing this dropbox issue and the reason so many now refuse to use dropbox.
Ok I need to direct download files..... Yes there are hundreds of folders with thousands of working files. Around 80gb The company who has kindly provided the dropdox download link has no intention zipping these items into smaller chunks. And I don't wan't to sign up to a dropbox plan that I will use once.
So we are doing it the primative way.... having the 80 gb of files saved to an external HD and phyically picking up the drive. We needed the extra exteranal HDD for these files, even if they could be downloaded from Dropbox.
This Dropbox zip issue has been ongoing for years.
When will Dropbox come to their senses and incorpoarte a funtion that will auto split an oversized download zip?
This would be such a simple fix Dropbox deveopers could incorporate, that would solve a huge ongoing problem.
But hey... Dropbox don't seem willing to put any effort into deveoping their software to be user freindly and to save file sharing time.
