How to download a 280GB file from DB Backups?

The file is in a folder on my external drive backup.  I get notification that it's too large to zip. So how can I download it without having to copy the entire drive backup to a new drive?

Hey Stretch1, thanks for your post.

If the folder is too large to download, the only way to go about it is to download the files in smaller batches.

Here's some more info on downloading files from our website.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi - it is a single 280GB file so cannot be split - what are my options to download the file? Thanks

If the file is only available in your backups page, since our website has a 250GB download limit, I'm afraid there's no other way to do it from there.

Can you let me know why you're trying to download it, since it's already in your external drive? Perhaps we can find some other way, if you give me a bit more context.

We have had an issue recently where some files on the DB Backups synced external drive are now showing up as 0 bytes. This has happened on 2 separate Macs with synced external drives. Unsure wether this is a Mac OS update or Dropbox related issue. The 0 byte files still show up at their correct file size on the DB Backups cloud copy of the drive.

To clarify - there is no way of accessing the 280GB file stored in the Backups copy of my drive?

Dropbox backup doesnt work like Sync does Im afraid. The way to access is to restore. So to access the 280gb file and see whats in it/use things you need to restore the drive instead.

When you say restore the drive - can I restore the entire  Backups copy of the ext. drive to a new blank drive?

If I download the entire ext. drive backup to a new drive is it possible?

To note - I have also paused Backups sync since noticing this issue to avoid writing over the backed up files with the 0 bytes versions from the drive
