auto upload from sd card

I'd agree with Mark here.
If you can get the images from the SD card on to the iPad then at that point we'll detect them.
This is more of an SD card -> iPad issue. Once it's on the iPad then iOS will pick them up and add them to Photos. Once in Photos then Dropbox will detect and sync them.[This thread is now closed. If you have a similar or new question, you can ask here]

Due to limitations in iOS I'm not sure it can.
On the Dropbox app you tap the big + . Follow https://www.dropbox.com/help/syncing-uploads/upload-mobile , however, if that doesnt detect the SD card thats a limitation from Apple I'm afraid.
