361 TopicsRe-design Dropbox log-in or sign-up invitation when downloading from shared links
Problem: When document link recipients click the Dropbox download arrow, your large, unattractive "Log-in or sign-up" sales pitch splashes in their face. It can alarm or confuse my clients. And because the third option - "Or continue with download only" - is in small typeface located at the bottom of that box, the link recipient is likely to miss it. My clients have even called to ask if they must sign-up in order to download a linked document, which becomes a second irritation and less efficient process. This is not good marketing. Observation: when a Dropbox customer is sending document links to others, recipients will be your customer's co-workers, clients , colleagues and customers, i.e. people your customers do not want to confuse or irritate. You won't see a sales pitch when clicking OneDrive or iCloud download buttons. If people enjoy their Dropbox experience they will more likely be interested in Dropbox, instead of how to bypass your sales pitch. SUGGESTION: Dropbox should eliminate this sales pitch altogether. However, if making the sales pitch outweighs irritating your customers and their customers, at the very least you should re-design your invitation's dialog box as follows: Make the entire dialog box much smaller; Eliminate this statement: "Download the file now and share it with others on Dropbox" (people receiving file links don't need to be told that. It's an unnecessary distraction that you won't find in OneDrive or iCloud). List only 2 attractive buttons of equal size and like-design with these options in this order: "Continue Download" (with a download arrow to click); "Dropbox Log-in / Sign-up" (clicking it would open log-in / sign-up fields). I don't use Dropbox very often because of the following problem. I mainly use it to share videos with my friends and I would really like the video to appear in a nice simple window when they play it. Unfortunately the visitor sees a lot of unnecessary text in the window which is just a distraction. With all respect it appears the window was created by engineers who are not concerned about appearance. My visitors already know who sent them the link, and I don't like the window having intrusive sharing options and text promoting the app. I think Dropbox should offer a version that is crafted with a simple appearance so the focus is on the content. I would be happy to pay extra for this option. It could be called "Dropbox pure" or "Dropbox clarity" or "Dropbox presentation" or something. As it is, Dropbox is a last resort for me because of all the clutter. Perhaps there is a cloud storage solution out there that is esthetically pleasing for the viewer, but I have not found one.23Views0likes1CommentHow to Workaround "Zip File is Too Large" Error
I'm sharing a multitude of large files with colleagues via a Dropbox link that are nearly 120GB in size. However, they're telling me Dropbox doesn't allow them to download it due to an error saying the "zip file is too large". Confused, I tried the link on an incognito browser to see for myself, and I see the error too. Why is there a download file size limitation? My colleagues don't have Dropbox accounts of their own to transfer these files to (and I doubt they'd be willing to to make paid accounts to do it), and I'm not giving my account login info to them (as a few threads on this issue suggested) to be able to download it via the Desktop app. I saw in a thread made a few years ago that Dropbox is easily capable of raising the file size download limit. They did it some months after someone complained about there being a 1 Gigabyte download size limit. Why don't they raise the download size limit much higher? (Or better yet, not have a limit at all?) I'm a paying customer, and the very reason I subscribed to Dropbox in the first place was to have a cloud service to store and share large files with people. If I wanted to deal with sharing smaller file sizes, I wouldn't even be paying for Dropbox's 2TB plan to begin with. I'd be using the Dropbox free version, or sites like Google Drive.Solved29KViews6likes9CommentsRemove "Log in or sign up" Popup when downloading from a shared link
We recently chose Dropbox as the best-looking and most functional drive-sharing tool for our video production company. However, there's an annoying popup prompting clients to log in or sign up when we share links. The "Continue with download only" button is easily missed, especially by older clients, making us look unprofessional. It's frustrating that such a customizable platform has this issue. We hope for a solution soon!4.8KViews7likes33CommentsI've added a PDF file to my shared Dropbox Paper doc, but the recipients can't see its preview.
Im having issues with paper document that we've uploaded a pdf - sent to clients and they are unable to view the image of the pdf on mobile or desktop? I've just been adding the pdf using the dropbox 'add' little image, searching for the pdf in a certain folder within our dropbox folders and then clicking upload. Changing the setting to view only as I don't need them to edit it only view it. Also it's a live working document that we make changes to so it must be a pdf doc. can't be a jpg. We can see it on our end in paper? Please can you help resolve this issue.49Views0likes4CommentsDropbox Paper completely disappeared from new UI
I've been using Dropbox Paper since it first came out. I just noticed now the UI of Dropbox paper has been updated. However, now when I go to the Paper home, none of my papers show up. None. The entire page is empty. I did noticed that I now have a "migrated paper" folder in the main Dropbox UI. I can open this folder and access my old papers. However, why wouldn't my old paper be listed in the Paper UI? Another thing that's completely missing is shared paper folders. My partner and I have a shared paper folder. The shared folder was created by him and shared with me. I cannot find any reference to this paper folder in my Dropbox UI. Not the new Paper UI, not the main Dropbox UI. I tried to search for documents in this shared folder, and they showed up in the search result. When I click on the shared doc, Dropbox takes me to the OLD Dropbox Paper UI. What? Makes no sense! My partner's account doesn't seem to have migrated to the new Paper UI yet. When he logs into Dropbox paper he still sees the old UI. Is this ever going to get fixed? That's just insane product behavior. I'm a product designer in the enterprise world. Even in the darkest corners of enterprise product, we would never allow behavior like this. That would be a release blocker. What's going on Dropbox?66Views0likes4CommentsI can't download a file sent through a link by IA

I am currently organizing my wedding. One of the ideas that I have is providing guests with a QR code that direct them to my dropbox. The intent is for them to take pictures on the big day and upload them to the file so that after the wedding I can transfer the pics to shutterfly to make a book. When I asked a friend to try the process she was able to get to the file and was able to look at the pics that I have in there. She however was not able to load any of her own into the account and got the notification " this folder is view only". Is there any way that I can change the settings so that everbody that access the QR code can upload pics?Solved9.1KViews0likes8CommentsDownloading from a shared link from Patreon gives me an error screen
Hello, I am currently using the free version of Dropbox, and I would like to confirm if shared links to uploaded folders still do not have an expiration date by default. I understand that with the Dropbox Professional or Business plans, it is possible to set an expiration date for shared links. However, I would like to know if, on the free plan, my shared links will remain active indefinitely unless I manually delete or remove them. Thank you!75Views0likes1Comment
