4 TopicsDropbox folder bounces in the dock on Mac when syncing.
NOTE: a thread already exists for this issue but was closed without a solution. I'm writing this here to reopen it. The Dropbox folder in my dock (Mac OS Sequoia) bounces every time a file is updated by dropbox Sync. When syncing hundreds of files, it will bounce constantly. When opening a cloud document (online-only document that is opened via the desktop file explorer and temporarily loaded onto the computer), it also bounces. This means that if I even use quick-look to preview a batch of images, my dropbox folder icon will bounce incessantly as it loads higher-resolution preview thumbnails. People have tried disabling this in terminal and it hasn't worked. I haven't personally tried the terminal method due to these reports, but I would prefer to manage this in the notifications preferences of Dropbox instead. Even with everything turned off on my notification preferences, it still bounces.1.8KViews0likes9CommentsGetting notifications about online-only files, with Google Drive/OneDrive active
I have a regular DropBox account that I've been using for many years. This afternoon, it suddenly started giving my this very same notification every 30 seconds or so. It doesn't tell me which files it's having trouble with - just, "These files are online-only." When I click on the notification, it goes away, but it continues the incessant beeping. How do I get this to stop?!7.7KViews1like58CommentsConstant notifications of sync events for data files e.g. ".pluginData," ".eventData" - Logic Pro?
I don't know what category to put this in (I feel like there should be a "sync" category), but I'm getting constant notifications that files have been updated, even when I'm not doing anything. It seems there are some data files being synced behind the scenes, maybe from the operating system, on a constant basis. So every 10 or 20 seconds, I'll get a notification saying "You changed 14 files" or "You added2024-02-29 01:14:26Z.songData." When I click to view the changes I see a list of hundreds of files for a single sync event. Most of these files are named liked this: 2024-02-29 01:10:46Z.pluginData 2024-02-29 01:10:46Z.eventData 2024-02-29 01:10:46Z.songData 2024-02-29 01:10:46Z.displayData Given the names referring to "plugin" and "song" I suspect this is something to do with the music/audio application Logic Pro. I've been saving all my songs in Dropbox so I can open them on two different computers. Should I not be doing this? Am I doing something wrong? Or is this expected behavior? Do I just ignore it and live with it, or can I change a setting to make this stop? Aside from just being distracting and annoying, it seems like this is extremely unnecessary and wasteful bandwidth/network and file transfer activity, it just seems like something is not working as it should. Thanks in advance if anyone has experienced this and can provide some insight or guidance. Otherwise I'll email Dropbox Support. dustin p.s.: the computer where the notifications are happening is an older iMac running macOS Catalina 10.15.7. Notifications happen on this machine when Logic Pro is running on the other one.780Views0likes3Comments
