Hi ... I've noticed that the DropBox IOS Mobile App isn't uploading or indexing photos in the background. To be perfectly honest the App isn't doing anything at all whilst minimised. The screen shot below shows if the app isn't shutdown fully and is left running in the background the days are not even updating. (Phone switched on plugged in over night). Instead of displaying "Today" "Today" & Yesterday it should read "Today", Yesterday and the 28th December. Restarting the app corrects the problem. I do appreciate IOS does dictate to some extent what apps can and can't do in the background especially when using battery power or the battery is low, but it makes no difference if my iPhone 13 is plugged in or not as the Dropbox app doesn't update or upload photos in the background. I've tried the same test with OneDrive which does what it is meant to do and will update and upload photos in the background, only stopping when the phone is indicating low battery power, or there is a poor Wifi, Cell phone coverage... Other IOS apps also seem to update ok which would point to a possible fault with your app ... any thoughts, am I missing something? .... Thanks in Advance.. Hi - I have a Fairphone 5 on Android 14 and I recently went to install Dropbox Paper, but the Play Store says that the app was made for an older version of Android and thus am unable to download it. I have tried joining the beta program to see if that changed things, but it did not. Is this a known issue? Is Dropbox releasing an update soon? How can I install Dropbox Paper?32Views1like5CommentsSimplifying File Transfers when using an iOS mobile.
Please enable multiple file selection or remember the last folder during the transfer file process. Currently in iOS mobile app I can only pick one file at a time and because it goes back to the root folder for each new selection I have to find my way back to the same folder over and over again when transferring multiple files. Thank you.41Views0likes4CommentsHow can I upload photos of my phone?
Storage on my phone is full. I want to save all my photos (10,000 or so) to dropbox and then delete them off my phone. Normally when I open the dropbox app on my phone, it automatically uploads my photos. I can see them on the app on my phone. I can see them on my dropbox web app. I have no idea what is happening with the photos in the 'camera uploads folder on my dropbox desktop app (it just seems to be uploading but never ends and the photos are all over the place. What can i do to free up phone storage and not lose my photos? Today my dropbox phone app wont upload any photos - it is saying 'your device storage is full, please delete some files and restart dropbox'. The answer to question 1 might help but if anyone has any tips on how to get the photos off my phone and permanently saved to dropbox it will be appreciated. Thanks47Views0likes5CommentsAlways have the option to automatically upload videos with camera uploads selected.
Please automatically upload videos from camera roll to Dropbox. Videos can be more precious than photos to users and this feature being optional with no prompt or notification to warn as such can cause great distress if missed. Most other platforms have this done automatically so users do not think to double check this presumably given feature. If you insist on this feature remaining please at least incorporate more notifications/banners to clearly show the user that it is off as a warning.Solved39Views0likes3CommentsView dropbox backups on app
As described in this thread, the new version of dropbox backup is great but has a major downside: files stored via backups can no longer be accessed within the dropbox app! Quoting @mbriney from the above-linked thread because I can't say it any better: I understand the principle of having the major "backups" be in a different segment of dropbox.. but it shouldn't be that hard to access all the files. Maybe inside the regular current Dropbox app, feature a button that allows up to actually open the files that are in this "backups" section? OR maybe create another "Dropbox Backups" app that will allow us to remotely view these backup files without having to go thru the browser?12KViews24likes24CommentsHave camera uploads not change the original filenames and delete files when removed from phone.
I'd suggest to develop a better system for saving camera uploads in the cloud. Currently, the system only uploads pictures from your phone as they are, changing the name as an uploaded file. It would be better if it leaves the original names of the files in your devices. Additionally, it would be better to have it working as a security copy, in such a way that if a delete a picture from my device, it is also erased in my security copy or back up in Dropbox. Because currently my Dropbox uploads is getting extremely full with useless pictures from WhatsApp chats. So if I delete them from my phone I also have to delete them from the file in Dropbox, making it double work.15Views0likes1Comment
