53 TopicsCan deleted photos be retrieved from Deleted Files?
3 days ago I deleted some individual in-named, un-filed single iPhone uploaded pictures. A few minutes ago I tried retrieving some from the deleted files section and after adjusting the filters, nothing came up. (1)Is there a grace period for retrieving? (2)Are deleted files the only items retrievable and not individual un-filed pictures? I’m a bit confused as to (3)what the difference between files and phone uploads and camera uploads are other than the obvious, deleting un-filed un-named singles individually to files having a name, files holding multiple pictures and ability to delete a whole file with pics all at once. (5)But with it being called “ Deleted Files”, are they all considered the same when deleting and retrieving them? It seems that Dropbox puts all my uploaded unfiled and un-named singles under camera uploads or phone uploads, (6)which I suppose, they could be considered pre-named Dropbox files (7)Not sure if I can delete pictures as a whole from these (files?) (8)because when opened, the two prenamed dropbox file formats look different than that of a file I named. (9)Dropbox’s Camera uploads and Phone uploads (files?) would make more sense to me if i uploaded photos with a secondary device like a Nikon camera or…..a Cannon. But all my Dropbox photo uploads are sourced from my iPhone camera. So that too is a bit confusing because I don’t choose where my singles go. They just go. Sometimes they go to both prenamed Dropbox (files?) I’ve had Dropbox for 10 years. SHORT - We need a to have a template for a shared folder same as we have possibility to create an email template when we want to send same information to many different people. PROBLEM - Every time I create a new shared folder manually with same structure and I cant fill it with empty subfolders automatically, because there's no such automation, so I spend a lot of meaningless time for this creating same 10 empty subfolders foe each new shared folder every time. HOW IT WORKS NOW, EXAMPLE - f/e I need to create 5 new DBX folders for our clients, who will later fill these folders with their documents. For that I create 1 new shared folder(1 action), give it a name(2nd action), add people(3rd action), create 5 subfolders with their original names (5 more actions).. I spend 10 minutes for this and perform 8 actions at least. Then I need to create SAME FOLDER FOR DIFFERENT CLIENT, so I do it again - 10 mins and 8 actions. If I make it for 5-6 clients , I spend an hour. I could copy first folder and rename it, but its not convenient at all as it will immediately land & drown in the list of other 1000 folders in our storage, so I will have to first find it to start working with it. HOW IT COULD WORK - it could be a "automation" called "set up a rule for new folder" - not WNEN it will be filled with files (focus on the files) but ONCE ITS CREATED (focus on a folder). So for example the rule can be - once new folder created - it will have the following newly created empty sub-folders with specific names. OR this could be realized as an option to create a TEMPLATE of the folder - I will set it up one time and then just use it every time I need to create a new folder of this kind. And then would be nice to be able to create more than 1 template for a shared folder. Manageable options in a template-folder could be: name, subfolders (with specific names)/ or pre-uploaded files, maybe even the addresses the folder has to be shared with. That's it, thank you.22Views0likes1CommentCloudRail - Dropbox - Missing client_id
Over the Easter weekend (Apr-10, 2025), Dropbox apparently made a change that makes it impossible for PimlicalAdvancedCalendar to log in through its CloudRail library. This has worked flawlessly for many years, and no change was made to PimlicalAdvancedCalendar or the CloudRail library (which is no longer supported by the developer). Is there a reason why Dropbox has suddenly made this change? Anyone else out there with an application that was using CloudRail to access Dropbox have any idea of what Dropbox did over the Easter Weekend?31Views0likes1CommentWix Dropbox App going end of life?
Good afternoon, It would appear that Wix has chosen to drop the Dropbox App that allows visibility/access to specific Dropbox folders directly from a Wix site. Are there any alternatives that anyone is aware of that could support a real-time peering between a Wix website and a specific Dropbox folder to upload and download files? Thank you,63Views2likes1CommentCopying the Dropbox version info in the preferences window
The Dropbox VERSION info on the Preferences Window should be SELECTABLE and made so that I can COPY it into the System Clipboard so I don't have to manually enter it when submitting a request like this. Better yet, place a "copy" icon next to it that will copy it into the clipboard for you.98Views1like3CommentsThe list of local Dropbox files on my Mac are different from the web
Ok when I started on drop box about when It first came out was good.. Several Macs. later. and storage locations later. the directory of files on dropbox is significantly different then what the application shows. I have a limited number of files or folders then I want to keep on my local Mac because I need to keep the local files on an external drive. I think the difference was caused by the external drive being disconnected while the Dropbox application was open.. I only recently found out this is a bad thing. How so I "sych" up the list dropbox files shown in the application with what is in the cloud?Solved120Views0likes14CommentsSpring Clean your Desktop with Dropbox 🌸

I love the option to save screenshots into Dropbox. Unfortunately if you enable it, you have to choose between: copy link copy image within the "When screenshot is ready" dropdown. On too many occasions this has overwritten something I had only recently copied to the clipboard. When I go to paste it, I instead find that it's been replaced by the link to the image, or the image itself. I still want to save my screenshots into Dropbox, but I'd love a 3rd option within "When screenshot is ready" dropdown: Don't copy anything to clipboard I'd imagine this is very simple to implement, so thought I'd ask :)26Views0likes2Comments
