I keep virtually all my files on drop box so I have them continuously backed up. I have about 700gb of data used for this. I just bought a new computer with windows 11 and after getting drop box up and running it appeared that all my stuff was synced up. I thought it was going to take several house to copy over that much data but it only took about 20 minutes. Now I am discovering that many of my file are actually "off line" and when I open them I have a lag waiting for the file to come over the internet. I often have a need to use my computer when there is no internet connection and I must have all my file available on my C drive. How can I get all my files onto my c drive? Is this something that is actually happening in the background and I am just not seeing it? (I only got it working yesterday)29Views0likes5CommentsCan't restore data from an old external device backup
When I look at DropBox with on the web, I can see that I have two external device backups named "Shared Data" and "Ventura ...". When I look at the backups using the app, I can only see one device backup With either of the backups, I can see no way of restoring them to a new machine. I do not have the original external device. With the "Ventura ..." backup I can see the files and download them as there are only a handful of them and then can be zipped. The "Shared Data" backup is 128GB with a considerable number of files and folders. It is therefore not feasible to navigate the complete structure, create the folder structure and then transfer the files in a folder and individual zips. Help is appreciated. Hello The external USB hard drive which I used with Dropbox Backup was physically damaged and will not connect. I would like to download 1TB of files stored in Dropbox Backup to put onto a new drive. Is there a way to point the entire Dropbox backup at a new drive? Reading this, if I log out and log back into Dropbox on my Mac, my only computer, can I point Dropbox Backup to a new External and have it download all of the files slowly? Utilizing the web interface is riddled with errors that there are too many .zip files in the folders. Thank you52Views0likes11CommentsI downloaded my .wav files from Dropbox, but they don't always play on my device.
I have a Sound FX library that I keep on Dropbox. 200GB. When I downloaded them, half of them no longer work. A few things happen: They won't play in quicktime but they will play in Audition They will play in Audition sometimes or once, but if I try to reload them into Audition, they are corrupted. Sometimes if I download the files individually they will work. But this is not consistent. The whole thing is very odd, but I found this thread from 5 years ago, so I'm not alone: https://www.dropboxforum.com/discussions/101001012/when-i-download-files-to-my-computer-the-sound-becomes-corrupted/336777/replies/48589024Views0likes1CommentSlow response using Dropbox for Python
Hello, My python code has been working well for months. Within the past 48 hours, the files_download command in the snippet below (with tokens obfuscated) has started to take about 45 seconds while previously it was instantaneous. It is the last line that is the culprit. import dropbox DROPBOX_APP_KEY = "?????" DROPBOX_APP_SECRET = "?????" DROPBOX_REFRESH_TOKEN = "????" dbx = dropbox.Dropbox(app_key=DROPBOX_APP_KEY, app_secret=DROPBOX_APP_SECRET, oauth2_refresh_token=DROPBOX_REFRESH_TOKEN) metadata, f = dbx.files_download('/alerts.csv') Any suggestions? It would be immensely helpful to me to be able to automatically download every file to a folder on my Android phone when it syncs with my Dropbox account, the same way it does on my Windows PC. I can't seem to be able to find a way to do this automatically the way it works on desktop, and it's very frustrating. I'm not sure if it matters, but I'm using the free version of Dropbox. If this is a feature supported by a higher tier, I'll happily upgrade.23Views0likes1CommentWe can't download a 60GB video file, as the download stops midway on the website.
I'm having issues with downloading 60+GB video files for a client (who pays for a 5TB Dropbox standard account). 1) Dropbox seems to be throttling my download at 5mb/s. And 2) the download has been stopping mid way randomly, leaving an incomplete file (using Chrome). Speedtest for my ISP shows I can get up to 40mb/s download.158Views0likes7Comments
