You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.
There are two Dropbox folders on my computer and both seem to be syncing to Dropbox.
The old Dropbox main folder (D:\Dropbox (Westcoast) remains as a junction since the change of Dropbox main folder naming some years back. New files are saved correctly in the new folder system but appears also in the old folder together with all other old files. But when I try to delete a file in the old junction folder it's also deleted in the correct main folder. How can I safely remove the junction such new files are not appearing and ultimately delete the old junction folder hierarchy without destroying files and folders in the correct main folder.
Delete docs in Signatures
When I have completed an e-signature process on a doc and have saved the signed doc elsewhere, I would like to be able to delete that doc from the signatures section of the platform. At present, I am not able to do that. I use that section of the platform to manage my doc signature process and be able to instantly see which docs are in process. Once the doc has been signed, I no longer want to see that doc in that section. It gets cluttered. Plus, the platform charges for data storage. So the idea that I can't delete docs that I no longer wish to store lacks a certain aesthetic to the platform experience overall.
Delete old data after time
It would be great if there were an option for the folder that old data is deleted after a specific time is over. For example: I want in Folder1 an automated deletion of data after one month. This option is only for Folder1. In Folder2 is this option not activated and the data is permanent stored. This option would be great for data that is generated of other programs which have access to Dropbox to store data.
Will deleting a file from my PC folder also delete its backup? How can I save up space on my device?
From what I understand there is the backup folder and the folder that is on the PC and is available in other applications. If I delete a file from the PC, does the backup folder also delete the file? If so, I can't save disk space! I intended to have files that take up a lot of space just in the backup and take them off the disk to save space.
I accidentally deleted a file from my Dropbox account, but I can't find it anywhere to restore it.
Hi, I accidentally deleted an important file while cleaning out my Dropbox folder. It's not showing up in recently deleted. That's basically the only help I get from the chatbot. Are there any other ways to restore this? Thanks!
Get rid of popups in the browser letting me know I just deleted content.
When I am using Dropbox in my browser, every time I delete a file or folder I get a little black bar popup notification that tells me I just deleted a file or folder. But I already know that. I have to click Close to get rid of it. I know it goes away, but I never want to see it in the first place. The option to Undo could be handy, but couldn't it be something less annoying than a popup (distracting, and blocks the view of whatever is beneath it)?10 years of files are gone, after joining a Team.
I have used Dropbox for 10 years with company backups etc. recently someone added my email to their team so I could access their files too - but then they deleted me when the job was over and my entire Dropbox is gone. My account is even gone as when I logged in, it made me re-register. I have all my company accounts, tax files, 10 years of backups etc. I need them back. If I am audited I am totally screwed. When they added me to their team, there was still a folder called ‘Renaes files’ that had all of my personal stuff and the company one was separate. How did they delete my files? Where would they be?After formatting my computer I cannot access my files.
I formatted my computer. Then I re-installed Dropbox. I got a message that I must pay for extra space, which I did, but now I cannot access my files and don't find a way to load them or see them online. They dissapeared also from my phone. I do see the additional space I payed for. Please help, anyone
