Can't restore a deleted folder. Error: "There was a problem completing this request".
So I deleted a folder, but somehow dropbox deleted the one next to it. Now I can only find that deleted folder under: in the browser, its not in the deleted files part of it. Whenever i double click that folder, and try to restore it it says: There was a problem completing this request. I never touched this folder, dropbox bugged out and deleted the wrong one, and now i cant seem to restore it. Not in different browsers, not a teammate, nothing. Why does it also not show up in the deleted files part of dropbox?
Can't delete Dropbox folders; they reappear after deletion
I've tried to delete a few folders in my Dropbox, but every time I do they reappear shortly after I delete them. Shortly as in, I don't have time to go to the trash folder on my computer or the deleted files section on the Dropbox website to click and delete them. I've followed all the suggested solutions and nothing works. I've checked the permissions; they are all labeled "Only Me." So I should be able to delete them...nope. I've checked to see if it's still syncing; it is not. Many of the folders are from a range of 1 - 7 months ago. I've deleted everything in the deleted files folder on the Dropbox site, but those folders are never in there to be able to delete because they restore immediately. Tried to clear the cache, but the directions to use the command in the Finder on Mac did not work. A cache folder never appeared after I used Command + Shift + . (period). Checked previous versions to see which device is restoring the file; it's my computer. I still tried deleting it from other computers as well as my own...nothing. I tried contacting support, but it just gives me a chat box that links me back to the SAME articles I referenced for the previous steps. OR directs me to this Community Forum in which people are having the same issues as me. According to a couple of replies from the Dropbox Team, they can't go in and delete files from their end either. It's absolutely ridiculous. This is a newspaper and we use these folders (organized by date) to keep track of files for upcoming editions. I cannot delete, at this point 3 folders (up from 1 persistent one that I've been trying to delete for 7 MONTHS). It's getting cluttered and confusing in the Dropbox and it's becoming more of a hassle than anything. You never know when a file or folder is actually going to delete or not. What is even the point of having an application that only works when you need to add something, but not delete? Might as well use the Google Drive at this point.
Delete docs in Signatures
When I have completed an e-signature process on a doc and have saved the signed doc elsewhere, I would like to be able to delete that doc from the signatures section of the platform. At present, I am not able to do that. I use that section of the platform to manage my doc signature process and be able to instantly see which docs are in process. Once the doc has been signed, I no longer want to see that doc in that section. It gets cluttered. Plus, the platform charges for data storage. So the idea that I can't delete docs that I no longer wish to store lacks a certain aesthetic to the platform experience overall.The option for old data to be deleted after a specific time.
It would be great if there were an option for the folder that old data is deleted after a specific time is over. For example: I want in Folder1 an automated deletion of data after one month. This option is only for Folder1. In Folder2 is this option not activated and the data is permanent stored. This option would be great for data that is generated of other programs which have access to Dropbox to store data.
There are two Dropbox folders on my computer and both seem to be syncing to Dropbox.
The old Dropbox main folder (D:\Dropbox (Westcoast) remains as a junction since the change of Dropbox main folder naming some years back. New files are saved correctly in the new folder system but appears also in the old folder together with all other old files. But when I try to delete a file in the old junction folder it's also deleted in the correct main folder. How can I safely remove the junction such new files are not appearing and ultimately delete the old junction folder hierarchy without destroying files and folders in the correct main folder.
Will deleting a file from my PC folder also delete its backup? How can I save up space on my device?
From what I understand there is the backup folder and the folder that is on the PC and is available in other applications. If I delete a file from the PC, does the backup folder also delete the file? If so, I can't save disk space! I intended to have files that take up a lot of space just in the backup and take them off the disk to save space.
I accidentally deleted a file from my Dropbox account, but I can't find it anywhere to restore it.
Hi, I accidentally deleted an important file while cleaning out my Dropbox folder. It's not showing up in recently deleted. That's basically the only help I get from the chatbot. Are there any other ways to restore this? Thanks!
Get rid of popups in the browser letting me know I just deleted content.
When I am using Dropbox in my browser, every time I delete a file or folder I get a little black bar popup notification that tells me I just deleted a file or folder. But I already know that. I have to click Close to get rid of it. I know it goes away, but I never want to see it in the first place. The option to Undo could be handy, but couldn't it be something less annoying than a popup (distracting, and blocks the view of whatever is beneath it)?
