automation
39 TopicsHow get notified if automation was successful/failed?
I have an Automated Folder that converts the uploaded file to PDF and saves it. I am using Dropbox API for it. Is there a way for me to programmatically check whether/when the PDF file generated by the automation is available? How should one go about it?22Views0likes1CommentGetting errors when managing automations
Hi when managing Automations in Dropbox I constantly get the "Couldn't add automation to..." or "Something went wrong. Please try again." I'm not creating elaborate Automations with steps; just sorting into months or years. Has anyone had the same problem and found a reason and/or fix? I have 10,000 subfolders with unique numeric names. I need to sift out 1000 of these subfolders into a shared folder. The list of these 1000 folders is in an Excel (or .csv) file. Is there a Dropbox automation that will move or copy the correct subfolders into the shared folder based on the Excel list?21Views0likes1CommentWhy Watermark Automation Is NOT working?
Hi, I have the professional essential plan, and I added watermark automation into the folder including all subfolders. I also adjust the size, color, and opacity to make sure it will show up. However, none of the photos in the folder was watermarked. I have to go into each folder and added the watermark manually which doesn't make sense at all. Can anyone tell what I did wrong? Thank you!Folder/File Automation and Tagging improvements
Add logic to automations via file tags "if file tagged X, rename file with Y". "if file tagged X, convert the file to a different format". "if file tagged X, resize the current image file". "if file tagged X, perform any other automation actions". "if file tagged X (on upload) put a copy of it in folders Y, W and Z" Every file should have a tag associated with it by default when its uploaded via mobile or desktop. We could then build all of our automations based off file tags, regardless of what folder a file is in. Right now its the other way around, automations are built on folders, not the files themselves.15Views1like2CommentsHow to categorize images automatically based on content inside with Dropbox AI?
Hi everyone, I checked on Google and found that Dropbox has AI feature. I want to ask how to use it to categorize images based on content inside with Dropbox AI. I have 5000 images about fashion mostly. Some are leather clothes, some are Jean, some are Blazers, some are T-Shirts... I want to move all images auto to some folders that fit with their categories automatically. If Dropbox AI or Dropbox Automation or any tool out there can do that, please guide me. Much appreciate!!! Yours Sincerely, Nathan43Views0likes3CommentsAllow automated folders to be duplicated with the automation in the duplicates
Would it be possible to duplicate folders with automation in them, aside from performing them manually? Would love to create an "automation" that can easily be added to new folders created, or simply copy over when duplicating an existing folder.23Views0likes1CommentThe Automation feature does not work for me - nothing happens when files are added to the folder
I'd first like to say in advance, thank you to anyone who posts here and is willing to lend a hand. 2nd I'd like to make it clear automation has never worked for me. All the other messages I've seen here regarding automation have to do with the fact it has stopped working, or it partially works. It's never worked at all for me. All I'm trying to do is simple audio file conversion. I want everything converted to Mp3. I have the automation set, and when files are added, nothing happens. I've tried dragging files straight to desktop page, I've tried moving files in from the smart phone app, I've tried different browsers, same result. No, I haven't tried clearing browser cache, because never once in my life has that ever worked when it was suggested as a potential fix, so I don't bother with it. I've tried creating the same automation in different folders, I've tried creating a new folder with the automation enabled from the get-go. Nothing works. Just for experiments sake, I also tried to setup a different kind of automation to rename the files, to see what would happen. That doesn't work either. I am willing to clear browser cache if someone REALLY thinks that's the solution here. The only way I'm able to convert the files is manually. I'll right click the file and select "save as" -- "Mp3". Then it will convert immediately. Below is a screen shot of the automation I've created. Again, thank you to anyone who offers some assistance.253Views0likes12Comments
