262 TopicsSome of my files show up as zero bytes
When I save file, the file will appear in my DropBox, but when I open it the file is completely blank or only kept an older version of the document. I realized some of these "saved" items are being saved as Zero bytes. I am not sure why this is happening.Solved30KViews0likes84CommentsOne of my shared folders disappeared after sharing it with another user.
I have just tried to share a folder with dropbox to another account and the folder has simply disappeared. It doesn't show in the online directory. It doesn't come up when I look for deleted files either, so I assume it is still there somewhere. This is an important folder and I'd like to get it back. Unfortunately I don't have a local copy so that isn't an option. Any ideas?Solved3.4KViews0likes10CommentsMy old pictures are missing!
I have not logged in awhile but I just did and realize I have lost 5 years worth of pictures. I have received emails that my dropbox is almost full but I've ignored that because I haven't uploaded anything new to dropbox. Do I have to upgrade to retreive my old stuff back? Does it get automatically deleted at some point? There is no way I deleted the files myself.2.8KViews0likes15CommentsCan't delete my OWN files!
When I wanted to permanently delete a file or folder (which I may have shared with others or not). I used to be able to delete it in Finder and then would get asked by Dropbox: Delete "untitled folder" from everyone's account and all devices? I then confirm with "Delete for everyone" and proceed to empty the trash on my Mac. Now I log on to my Dropbox account, go to "Deleted files" and select the ones I want to permanently delete. Then confirm this and they were gone, space would be freed up. Well, gone are those glory days of simplicity, because: NOW I get told by Dropbox: "File XYZ will be gone forever for everyone, including for anyone still using the folder. Permanently deleting this folder won’t free up space." I confirm by selecting "Permanently delete" NOW I get the message: "x items couldn’t be permanently deleted" Dropbox tells me – uselessly: "What you can do": "Ask the owner to help permanently delete this" I AM the #!*¥ owner, aren't I? Plus, didn't clicking "Delete for everyone" on the desktop version make it clear that ALL those files have to go? Shurely this is a recent bug. It wasn't such a hassle before to get rid of old files. Or am I missing something? GrrrrrSolved15KViews3likes10CommentsMissing desktop files after deleting dropbox
Hi a while ago (6 months ago) I downloaded DropBox app and checked syncing with my personal Desktop files (although I think I disabled that immediately). It synced, but because I was using free version, only 2GB from my 60GB desktop were stored, the rest was not. Some time ago i uninstalled Dropbox (but now I am confused if i really did) and everything was fine. I kept on living like that since then, no issues, but today when I found I still have some remaining of files with 'Dropbox' in their names, I deleted them and all my Desktop files are now gone + I cannot save anything on my Desktop as it is just gone also, when I check what is my Desktop is pointing to it says "Desktop -> /Users/chopchop/Dropbox/My Mac (iMac (Chop))/Desktop" So I assume I just deleted my Dropbox directory today, and by deleting it, I deleted my desktop files which were not stored in Dropbox unfortunatelly. Should I just reinstall dropbox? When I try, it says that original dropbox directory is missing or relocated. Should i just create new directory and move app there? do u have any idea how to resolve lack of Desktop + this referencing, or do u recommend any files-recovery software which could help?Solved7.9KViews0likes40Commentsmy files disappeared.
I installed the dropbox on my MAC and it automatically uploaded some files. However when I entered the dropbox, it is not there. it is an important file and I cannot miss it. Can someone help me? I already looked at the list of deleted files and there is nothing. I did it on Tuesday, the 26th, and on the 27th, I was no longer. I already did the backward process but the file just disappeared. I don't know what else to do! when i try to open the file in Word, it appears that it is in the dropbox in the following path: users / paulobarros / dropbox / mymac / desktop / filename but when I open the drop, there is nothing. I have an Excel file in my dropbox folder that I reference on a daily basis from my work Windows desktop, my home Mac desktop, and my iPhone. I have been updating this file daily for the last few weeks. Today, when I open the file, Excel opens and shows me a much older version. Roughly 90% of my added data is not showing when I open the file. Oddly, the "Preview" of the file on my desktop explorer window properly shows the current version. Also, If I right-click on the file to view the "Previous Versions", the "Current Version" shows a preview with the proper information. Why can't I get the "current version" file to actually open, all of the sudden? Thanks in advance!4KViews0likes19CommentsIs there a way to restore permanently deleted files?
