My account shows that another person owns it. I'm unable to use features because that person is always on the shared list as the owner. Do I close it and open it under a different email address? I don't really want to do that because I want it associated with my company name/email address.602Views0likes3CommentsI joined a Dropbox team and now all my files are shared with them
I joined a professional team and it gave them access to all my personal folders and files. I didn’t realise that joining a team would do this, I assumed my folders would still only be accessible by me. I deleted the folders but when I tried to permanently delete the files it said I do not have permission. I do not have permission to delete my own folders and files????? Apparently it needs to be admin which is a colleague who I do not want to access the information.21Views0likes1CommentCan you permanently delete a file in a shared folder without getting the owner to help?
I accidently dropped a file (moved it) into a shared Dropbox folder. I don't own this shared folder. So I subsequently deleted that file from the shared folder because this file has sensitive information that the admin should not see. But when I go to permanently delete that file, it says I need the admin of the shared folder to help. Is there a way to delete this file permanently without having the admin help? I am afraid if I ask for help, the admin may choose to undelete the file and view it.Solved146Views0likes5CommentsA bunch of my files went to Zero Bytes on Mac
This issue was posted here like five years ago by a different user and the fix worked for them but I've encountered the issue now and the fix isn't working. Basically, I've got a new Mac, synced all my files from my old Mac but they're mostly showing up as Zero Bytes and they're not openable. I tried going to my preferences->Account->holding down the alt/option key and clicking "Fix Permissions". It prompts me for my computer password, I enter it, it seems to work but doesn't. So I do it again, then I receive the error message in Dropbox: "Dropbox was unable to fix permissions in your Dropbox. Please contact support if the problem persists." I'm on the basic plan, so I don't have access to proper support (bad show, guys) so I'm hoping someone can help.52Views0likes6CommentsWe can no longer add an expiration date or password for our shared links on Family.
Hello, We used to be able to set a password or expiry time for shared files and folders in Dropbox Family. Now this this has been disabled with a prompt to upgrade to "Dropbox Professional". Have certain features been removed from the Dropbox Family plan ? Given that I'm on a "Grandfathered" plan (not sure that's the right word), I have not been notified that any features had been removed. I paid annually and assumed features would remain the same. Dropbox doesn't publicly list the Dropbox Family plan anymore, even though it's listed publicly. Thanks in advance.49Views0likes5CommentsIs AI using files in Dropbox to train?
Trying to decide whether to upgrade my account and get out of OneDrive, to avoid having my files accessed by AI. I have been unable to find an answer to this question, unless there is a clear statement and verification that files are protected, instead of upgrading I will delete all my files and close my Dropbox account.42Views0likes1CommentDoes Dropbox have location-based sharing restrictions?
Hi, I’ve embedded a Dropbox shared folder into my application and enabled the "Anyone with the link" option for both viewing and editing permissions. However, it’s been noticed that several users are unable to access the training files (shared folder). Specifically: For the "Team India Production" team, some members have access to the folder, while others do not. Similarly, this issue seems to be affecting members of the US team as well. This has led me to wonder if there are any implicit access restrictions in place—such as location-based permissions—or other factors affecting access. I want to give permission for all staffs I’d like to know: Does Dropbox have any location-based restrictions or region-specific permissions that could explain this issue? Are there any known solutions to ensure consistent access for all users, regardless of their location? Any guidance or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!60Views0likes3CommentsOne of my shared links can't be accessed without logging in to Dropbox first.
Hello, I recently uploaded a .mov file into my new dropbox. I copied a link and made sure in the permissions that anyone with the link could view the video. I made sure it worked by opening the link in incognito and on another friend's device. The link worked as intended. However, today, the link says you need to sign in to protect the file. After signing in on a different account, it says you need to request permission to view the file. If I copy the "sharable link" on my original account again, this link works. But I need the older link that worked yesterday, under the SAME permissions, to work and allow anyone with it to view the file. Has anyone had a similar issue?Solved69Views0likes6CommentsHow can we change team admin with no access to the current team admin's account?
We have a standard 5tb account and have a no access as the creator/admin refuses to hand over the log in. We are being told that there would be an additional cost to ADD or CHANGE admin to our business managers email address. Is this BS?39Views0likes5Comments
