Last week my main PC W10, named "Qanto", went crazy making it impossible to use. I was building a new PC. Again W10. In an urgent move, I started to configure it as the New Main PC. Name "TwenyFour" or T24 for friends :-D. While I was here, being forced to access many useful settings stored in "PC/settings BKP" under Dropbox, I also looked around on the PC folder where many Install.Dirs are also hosted. I used this BKP technique on an SD stick for many years, but having Dropbox maintaining that storage updated is much better. _____________________________ Perusing all Dropbox Folders to manage software, and much more ... I've found a lot of old parts saved there not usable anymore. That's a good opportunity to make some order and do some cleaning. Every time I reboot the T24, the notification "do you want to delete XYZ?" appears and asks for an Ok, I give "OK", then another appears, etc, etc, etc may be twenty times :-( ... I've read another 6-year-old thread where reasons were explained, but I found it quite intrusive to insert that ... and stupid not being present in the "notification options setting". No solution appeared so far in that thread, and a search on the forum did not give me interesting results. ANY HELP to block those things? (It never appeared on my old device, it's still not appearing on the W11 laptop ) 6 years .. When an admin uses the "log in as user"/"sign in as user" feature in the web admin interface, a confirmation prompt appears warning the admin that all other admins will get notified by email. It would be nice if this confirmation prompt included a text entry box where the admin could describe the reason for signing in as a member, and if this reason was included in the email sent to other admins and in the audit logs. Use case: Our admins are regularly accessing the Dropbox account of a recently departed senior employee to look for certain files. Currently, the Dropbox admins manually send emails to the other admins to let them know the reason for the access.26Views0likes2CommentsEnable users to subscribe/unsubscribe to comments for a whole folder
I am a retoucher and share dozens of images in folders with my team. They then comment on the files. The photographer is the owner, so gets notified of comments automatically. I am a team admin and at present, to be notified of comments, I have to subscribe to each individual file (it is a large team and not everyone names me in their comments). I simply don't have time to do this for hundreds of images in multiple folders. My suggestion is that users should be able to subscribe (and therefore unsubscribe) to comments for a whole folder - or at least multiple files at once. It would be a huge time saver!40Views0likes2CommentsAdd an option to choose between the removed "Screenshot Added" notification or the quick actions.
I've gotten really used to seeing this notification every time I took a screenshot and it'd help me know if I saved a screenshot or not and i'm noticing it's gone and there's a new feature that I assume replaced this which is to show quick actions after screenshot, but I like the Screenshot Added notification more because it's just a notification, while the quick actions are a seperate window, and I don't want to switch windows back every time I take a screenshot, so I feel like if there was a way to choose in the Screenshots menu whether if you want there to be a notification informing you after saving a screenshot or if you want the quick actions. I would love for there to be an option to choose between those two.47Views1like2CommentsSender receives an email notification when and with who they share a folder with!
Whenever the owner shares a folder/ file in dropbox they should receive a delivery notification that the folder/ file has been shared with the receiver detailing the date/ time/ receiver details (name and account/ email), similar to the one a receiver gets from dropbox portal that a file/ folder has been shared by xxxx dropbox account. We all make mistakes or sometimes it could be some glitch in the devices, a folder is shared accidently and as you do not receive any notifications so such detail can easily be missed as the sender is oblivious of the activity/ mistake and it can go unnoticed. When the receiver accepts and joins the folder than its easy to check who has access but in cases where the receiver accepts and immediately removes themselves in that case its practically impossible to track if the shared folder was ever accessed by the receiver. This also can be deemed as a security concern, as the sender is completely oblivious of the shared folder status and there is no proof that the folder was actually shared with the receiver. The activity log and events page do reflect the sharing of the folder but do not provide details with who the folder/ file was shared. Hope this can be taken into consideration as can surely help track sharing of folders much better and secured. Thanks32Views0likes3CommentsI got a notification saying I'm out of space, but I still have 7GB left on my Dropbox account.
Hi There, A notification says "You're account is currently out of space and has stopped syncing", however My Account shows I have my used 15.4GB out of 22.5GB, complete with a section marked Unused Space 7.1GB ( Pls see 2 pics below) Recommending Dropbox to half of suburbia many, many years ago, earned me an extra 20.5GB capacity for my 2GB Dropbox Basic Account. The Out of Space message by the way, was preceded by a warning March last year ( see pic 3) when I had about 12 to 13 GB storage used. Would someone be able to help me get the account syncing again, please? Very Best - Simon H40Views0likes3CommentsNotification/warning when closing a locked file
My idea is about locked files and the problem that people forget to unlock it after they're done working in it. To avoid that people forget to unlock a file after they close it, it would be nice that you get a warning about the file still being locked when you close it. (in the same way an application asks you if you want to save changes before closing it) This notification would avoid the problem that a file stays locked for hours or days without reason, just because someone forgot to unlock it.27Views0likes2CommentsOption to disable notifications for automations when using the desktop app.
It's been years since this topic came up. Currently it is not possible to disable notifications for any automation, unlike other notifications. I honestly don't understand what's the hold-up here and sincerely ask you to allow me and others to disable them. I do not need them, and it just conditions me to blindly ignore any notifications, even if there would be some that were more important. I don't understand why you think they are that important that they should override user choice.83Views1like4Comments
