Microsoft Office
317 TopicsCan I use OneDrive MS Office Collaboration within the Dropbox folder?
I am a huge fan of Dropbox and trust them with my files. I am currently using Dropbox as a real-time backup for my file server and users access these documents over the network. Some of us users collaborate at the same time on Excel documents using the antiquated Shared Workbook feature. This collaborative process needs to be replaced with MS Co-Author feature that's built into OneDrive. I don't trust OneDrive with my files as it is not truly backing up my files in real-time. I believe OneDrive caches file changes in a Temp folder and then uploads whenever it wants to, sometimes never. I have had a number of documents that were manually saved 50 plus times even with the auto-save feature enable, closed out of these files. A day later I ran a Temp file cleanup using a utility. Then later on that day or next day opened my documents and they had reverted to their original state. There was no file change history either that I could revert back to. On a standalone computer, can I install Dropbox, then install OneDrive inside of that folder. Then I can share documents from/to the OneDrive account on the Standalone computer to other users and my separate work computer's OneDrive account? This way I can get the Co-Author feature my team needs, while having Dropbox save true backups of my teams files as they make changes?24Views0likes1CommentMS Word no long "likes" documents stored on external Dropbox locations (Mac OS 10.15 Sequoia)
So I recently updated from 10.14 to 10.15, and everything looks good except for MS Word. I keep my Dropbox file on an external drive (formatted as Mac OS Extended Journaled), and whenever I try to edit and save a Word document to the Dropbox location, I get a dialog box with "Check to make sure the removable drive containing this file is still available." It then renames the file to a temporary file name (e.g. .~WRD1234) and then brings up the File Save As dialog box. The whole thing repeats if I try to give it a new name. I've reindexed my Dropbox folder, removed the MS word cache, etc. etc. I'm on client build v212.4.5767. I did not see this behaviour with previous versions of Mac OS, so I'm assuming something broke with the update. Anyone with any ideas?Solved61Views0likes9CommentsCan't see "Show Dropbox as a save location in Microsoft Office"
I have installed Dropbox and Microsoft Office 365 on a new Windows 11 laptop. The option to 'Show Dropbox as a save location in Microsoft Office' is not shown in the Preferences - General settings box as it should be. I have a couple of older machines, Windows 10 and Windows 11, and the option is shown in those. Any suggestions as to a fix will be most welcome.39Views0likes5CommentsNew Computer - all Word Docs Corrupt
I have set up a new computer. Downloaded the Dropbox desktop app, same as previous computer. I am running Office365. Now all Word documents that are stored in DP are showing corrupted. I can login to DP directly and open the document but when I try to open through my DP shortcut on file explorer. Word docs will not open directly. The solution has been to open the document from DP and then re-save it on the computer in DP. So I still have access to the docs but it's very inconvenient. Is there a solution that would allow my documents to all update at once and be available again from the file explorer shortcut?13Views0likes1CommentThe Dropbox Badge does not appear on MS Word files on certain computers with Windows 10 Pro.
In my company, on most computers running Windows 10 Pro with Dropbox version 212.4.5767 and various Office packages, the blue badge does not appear when opening Word files. I haven’t been able to determine if the issue is caused by Windows, Office, or Dropbox. However, it affects most computers. Please help me find a solution to resolve this issue, as my colleagues actively use this feature. Thank you.139Views0likes22CommentsUnable to open Excel files on Android Dropbox mobile app - Office login loop
Hi, I have a free dropbox account and have used it for years to store a few basic excel spreadsheets that I use daily. I have a paid Microsoft 365 account that I use on my android phone and lenovo laptop. For some reason the last few days, I am unable to open my dropbox excel spreadsheets on my phone. When I try to open the spreadsheet I get a log in page saying "Log in or sign up to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office Integration". I log in using my dropbox user and pw and it just sends me to my onedrive. I have tried deleting the dropbox and 365 apps on my phone and re installing and logging in. I have tried to open the dropbox files by going into excel first and then trying to open the dropbox spreadsheet. Just always sends me to the log in page. It all works fine on my laptop, and after saving, my dropbox android app shows the newly updated spreadsheet. Dont know what has happened. Please help.7.2KViews2likes29CommentsI can't edit my Microsoft files on the mobile app.

Hallo! Danke!217Views0likes2Comments
