Folders
207 TopicsCan't delete Dropbox folders; they reappear after deletion
I've tried to delete a few folders in my Dropbox, but every time I do they reappear shortly after I delete them. Shortly as in, I don't have time to go to the trash folder on my computer or the deleted files section on the Dropbox website to click and delete them. I've followed all the suggested solutions and nothing works. I've checked the permissions; they are all labeled "Only Me." So I should be able to delete them...nope. I've checked to see if it's still syncing; it is not. Many of the folders are from a range of 1 - 7 months ago. I've deleted everything in the deleted files folder on the Dropbox site, but those folders are never in there to be able to delete because they restore immediately. Tried to clear the cache, but the directions to use the command in the Finder on Mac did not work. A cache folder never appeared after I used Command + Shift + . (period). Checked previous versions to see which device is restoring the file; it's my computer. I still tried deleting it from other computers as well as my own...nothing. I tried contacting support, but it just gives me a chat box that links me back to the SAME articles I referenced for the previous steps. OR directs me to this Community Forum in which people are having the same issues as me. According to a couple of replies from the Dropbox Team, they can't go in and delete files from their end either. It's absolutely ridiculous. This is a newspaper and we use these folders (organized by date) to keep track of files for upcoming editions. I cannot delete, at this point 3 folders (up from 1 persistent one that I've been trying to delete for 7 MONTHS). It's getting cluttered and confusing in the Dropbox and it's becoming more of a hassle than anything. You never know when a file or folder is actually going to delete or not. What is even the point of having an application that only works when you need to add something, but not delete? Might as well use the Google Drive at this point.61Views0likes3CommentsAllow automated folders to be duplicated with the automation in the duplicates
Would it be possible to duplicate folders with automation in them, aside from performing them manually? Would love to create an "automation" that can easily be added to new folders created, or simply copy over when duplicating an existing folder.25Views0likes2CommentsMoving files out of Dropbox defaults to copy except inside Dropbox
When I move files out of Dropbox to another folder on my computer, they are only copied, but not moved. When I move files between Dropbox folders, they do move. I am using Windows 10. This is a recent development, not sure if related to Windows update.17Views0likes1CommentErrors when trying to load my folder list and copy & move files on the website
For the past two days on the Dropbox website (Chrome browser Windows), I have gotten get Aw, Snap! or RESULT CODE HUNG memory error after waiting (and waiting) for the folder list to populate while trying to copy or move files. I have done all of the troubleshooting I can think of: My internet connection(s) are fine. In fact, I'm getting same error on each of our 3 different WiFi providers. My RAM says: 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable), and there plenty of memory space available on my Dell laptop. My Chrome version is up to date; and I have cleared caches, removed bad Chrome extensions, and even changed Chrome DNS settings. Same error occurs in Chrome incognito and in Microsoft Edge. I am not able to do this project on the Dropbox desktop or iPhone app. Failure of the folder list to populate makes it impossible to finish end-of-year projects. Is there something going on? Or are there any other suggestions? Thank you, amcoffice92Views0likes19CommentsWhen I export, and then upload camera uploads, they're duplicated under the "Photos" tab.
Hello, the “camera uploads” function is turned on, and I tried to make those automatically uploaded photos (which under “photo”) into another folder which named with time sequence/or name of event. However, every time when I selected those photos (under “photo”) which I want to put into folder A via exporting function, they will be duplicated afterwards under “photo”. Is there a way to avoid the duplicated case?! Or is there other way to properly categorize the photos (under “photo” tab) into other folders?! Thanks!21Views0likes1CommentRight-click option to sync any computer folder to my account, without moving it inside Dropbox.
As for me, synchronization of folders via the application is done a little inconveniently and not even clear, and in fact it does not exist.. Let me explain what I mean: I would like to right-click on the folder that I want to synchronize with the folder from the hard drive, so that synchronization works automatically when adding files to this folder.. Why should I transfer files every time that I want to be in the cloud, it is inconvenient and you need to constantly spend time on this.. Let synchronization work for me..!! I think it is very convenient and, first of all, a function that saves time..!!93Views1like4CommentsGet an option to prioritize syncing for folders on the desktop app.
Dropbox currently has an option to prioritize which files to sync first. I'd like to extend that to provide the same functionality for selected folders. This will be particularly helpful in migrating to new equipment but also when changing a large amount of content. Can do?31Views0likes1CommentDropbox Migration to a New Mac With the New Cloud Storage Setup
On my primary computer, I keep all Dropbox files in offline mode. I've updated to the new Dropbox setup that places the Dropbox folder in ~/Library/CloudStorage. I'm wondering what will happen when I move to a new Mac in the future. In the past, the macOS transfer program would transfer all my files to the new computer's drive, and then Dropbox would reindex them (rather than having to redownload all the files from Dropbox). What will happen now with the new Dropbox setup? Thanks.Solved6.5KViews1like28CommentsGetting errors when managing automations
Hi when managing Automations in Dropbox I constantly get the "Couldn't add automation to..." or "Something went wrong. Please try again." I'm not creating elaborate Automations with steps; just sorting into months or years. Has anyone had the same problem and found a reason and/or fix? Br/MikkelSolved33Views0likes5Comments
