That latest update to the Linux Dropbox daemon removed the GUI for allowing users to select which folders to sync. This was confirmed to me by technical support (hence me making this suggestion here, per their recommendation). The CLI still works of course (e.g., dropbox exclude add/remove), but this adds another, odious, step, since one has to first find where those files and folders are on Dropbox via the web browser, then build the correct path and copy that to the CLI. It is very, very inefficient. We have gotten used to and accepted the lack of good Linux functionality on Linux over the years (and certainly not smartsync...) while paying the same price as anyone else, but this new regression really does add a whole new impediment to using Dropbox efficiently, especially for business. Please restore the folder select GUI, at the very least!6Views0likes0CommentsRemove External User(s) Delete Ability
PLEASE allow us to restrict the ability of external users to delete files and folders in a shared folder. I just ran into an issue where a user, that had edit permission, deleted all of the files and folders in a shared folder. Allow us to restrict the ability to delete by users. Or change the view permission to upload files and folders. This seems so easy to do, yet it doesn't happen. If I'm missing a setting, please enlighten me. Thank you.27Views0likes3CommentsThe list of local Dropbox files on my Mac are different from the web
Ok when I started on drop box about when It first came out was good.. Several Macs. later. and storage locations later. the directory of files on dropbox is significantly different then what the application shows. I have a limited number of files or folders then I want to keep on my local Mac because I need to keep the local files on an external drive. I think the difference was caused by the external drive being disconnected while the Dropbox application was open.. I only recently found out this is a bad thing. How so I "sych" up the list dropbox files shown in the application with what is in the cloud?Solved73Views0likes12CommentsI can't copy and paste folders from my desktop app and I don't see Dropbox options for my files.
Dear all, I would really appreciate your help in advance. I am using Dropbox on my desktop using the desktop app. For some reason, I cannot copy and paste folders within my Dropbox (it says it is copying and pasting the folder but the progress stays at 0%). The same symptom happens when I also copy a folder from Dropbox to Gdrive. Also, when I right click the dropbox file, I do not see dropbox related actions. This is really frustrating me. Please help!!! Sincerely, HJP45Views0likes7CommentsI have two Dropbox folders. Can I merge content?
I love DropBox and fear that my "problem" is something that I've created! I have two DropBox folders: the one in my preferences is at ~/Dropbox and has about 4GB but I also have ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox (20-12-2024 (16/41) which has 40+GB I only discovered this after "losing" changes to a file that was in the "wrong" folder. It looks as though I did something silly just pre-Christmas. So my help request is twofold: most urgently, is there an easy way to merge the wtwo folders without losing anything? (so that I don't repeat the mistake) can anyone tell me what I might have done? Thanks CliffSolved87Views0likes6CommentsDropbox disappeared from Finder on Mac OS 15.3.2, and I can't locate it easily
Using a Macbook Pro with OS 15.3.2 (just installed last night). Now dropbox is no longer listed on the left side of the Finder options in the Location section (where it's always been). How do i get it back there or where has it been moved to? If i look under my user name, dropbox is there with my folders, but i cannot 'copy link' to send to client. Please advise.Solved83Views0likes6CommentsDropbox generating excessive cache files
I have an issue with Dropbox 166.4.2920 on macOS 12.0.1 Dropbox keeps generating utterly excessive cache files, 114GB currently on a folder that has 3.3GB of actual contents. How can I force Dropbox to clear its cache in a reasonable timeframe and not keep accumulating this?5.7KViews0likes10CommentsChanging ownership of all files owned by former team member.
Hi We plan to remove and reallocate the dropbox memberships of two team members who have left our organisation. However, they both had a bunch of shared folders which they are the listed owner of. Is there a way of seeing what all the folders a particular member owns are and changing ownership of all of them? I do have their logins as they were work accounts so could either do it via their accounts or as the admin of the team. Alternatively, if they are just deleted from the team, will the shared folders that they own also be deleted? Or will they still remain viewable to the other accounts that they are shared with. Thanks MarkSolved103Views0likes4Comments
