54 TopicsHow to remain ineligible for "new Dropbox for macos on File Provider"
Luckily, I managed to still be ineligible for macos on File Provider, and I would like to keep it that way. How do I make sure I do not become eligible and keep the ~/Dropbox location, in my home folder? I have set my default to Available Offline and choose Selective Sync for folders that should remain on Dropbox. Is that a successful configuration towards my goal? Are there any complexitiesI could add to make sure I'm the last one to become eligible? Uncountable things would break if I were to wake up to "your Dropbox folder is now in ~/Library/MobileSomething". Thanks a lot7Views0likes0CommentsSudden change of language on mobile app Russian.

It has been several years since I was able to quicklook a file or see its thumbnail preview. I've had multiple different macs in that timespan. Is this just how it is now or is there a setting I need to fix? Thanks, Jamie PS. I use Dropbox Teams.19Views0likes1CommentNo longer see syncing check marks on Mac when using the Dropbox desktop app
Hoping someone can give me some guidance. I was running dropbox on an older Mac with no problem. I recently purchased a new Mac M4 and migrated all of my files over to this Mac that is running Sequoia. I have the same files and programs that I did on my previous Mac. Dropbox no longer has the check mark status so I know everything is syncing or has synced. The files ARE syncing and they are current, just no status marks. I have re-started the Finder a number of times. I removed the Dropbox app and re-installed. Re-started the computer after a few times. No change in behavior. Is something conflicting with this app. Odd as I've added no new apps since moving to this Mac. Trying to sort it out. Thank you.Solved113Views1like16CommentsDropbox MacOS: app stuck with "Connecting Components" message on Sequoia.
Hello, My MacOS Dropbox client is stuck during on a state showing "Connecting Components", and I can't connect to the Dropbox server and access my files. When I access the Dropbox client's preferences page, I see: "Dropbox is still starting up and loading your accounts" I am using MacOS Sequoia 15.1.1 and the Dropbox Mac client is v213.4.4597 Thank you, Alan22Views0likes1CommentThe Dropbox desktop app gets stuck syncing for the team on MacOS
To clarify, dropbox works 95% of the time, so it's not a sync issue. But for me and my whole dropbox team, roughly once or twice a day, dropbox completely binds up. For example, I have double clicked to open a 6MB file and it's been 20min and still nothing. The icon at the top says syncing but the file never actually downloads and opens. when i hover mouse over the dropbox icon it says 'syncing' but no KB upload or download rate that it usually has when it's actually syncing. It's some sort of bug as again, dropbox works 95% of the time fore uploads and downloads, but then its just dies and you cant open anything for an hour until something happens and it randomly comes back online. I have tried pausing the sycn and starting again. I have tried restarting dropbox. no success. Maybe a restart of the computer. but geez it's frustrating.61Views0likes5CommentsCannot upgrade to a Dropbox Business plan because current subscription is managed by Apple App Store
Hi, we would like to upgrade from Plus to Business. The current Plus subscription has managed by the Apple App Store. We already cancelled the subscription there and it is already expired (as of 2024-11-19). However, it is still not possible to upgrade to business because it still claims that the subscription is managed by Apple App Store. Does anyone have an idea what else we can do to upgrade the account to Business without the use of the apple app store but directly from the Dropbox page? Thank you very much and best regards - RichardDropbox icon with checkbox white interior remains a mystery.
Megan from the DropBox staff offered some help to an earlier post entitled "Dropbox icon and folder status on a Mac” but despite my replies, the discussion went dead seven days ago. I still have outstanding questions and would like to revive the discussion. I have selected the preference that all files and folders be available off-line on my primary MacBook, however, I have a mix of checkboxes, that is to say both kinds… green interior and a white check mark and white interior with a green checkmark. Below is the explanation link that Megan supplied, but there's no mention of the check mark with white interior, which was puzzling because I had seen but lost another page earlier that included that in the explanations. In looking at this article about syncing icons and reference was made to the DropBox desktop app, which aside from the icon that lives next to the Time Machine icon in the upper right menu bar in the Finder, I'm not really sure what the dropbox desktop app is? Yes it appears in the application folder, but if I double click on it, it simply takes me to the designated dropbox folder within my User folder. Which, by the way, except for emergencies, that is the only way I work with DropBox. The primary thing I want to do is faithfully mirror the activity of the Finder “DropBox” folder on the primary MacBook and have the files and folders populate to other devices. Finally, all my posts from the last month or so started re. puzzling changes to modification dates following a migration from an old MacBook to a new one. In nearly 40 years of using a Macintosh this has been one of the most challenging technical snafus I've ever encountered. Thanks, Paul syncing icons based on this article?72Views0likes19Comments
