Dropbox folder bounces in the dock on Mac when syncing.
NOTE: a thread already exists for this issue but was closed without a solution. I'm writing this here to reopen it. The Dropbox folder in my dock (Mac OS Sequoia) bounces every time a file is updated by dropbox Sync. When syncing hundreds of files, it will bounce constantly. When opening a cloud document (online-only document that is opened via the desktop file explorer and temporarily loaded onto the computer), it also bounces. This means that if I even use quick-look to preview a batch of images, my dropbox folder icon will bounce incessantly as it loads higher-resolution preview thumbnails. People have tried disabling this in terminal and it hasn't worked. I haven't personally tried the terminal method due to these reports, but I would prefer to manage this in the notifications preferences of Dropbox instead. Even with everything turned off on my notification preferences, it still bounces.
Remove "available offline" in finder under folders and files
Hello, Does anyone know a way to remove the “available offline” phrase in Finder under files and folders? First of all, the phrase seems completely useless considering it can be there along with the cloud icon that indicates that a file/folder is not actually offline but needs to be downloaded to be opened. Second, this useless phrase takes away the ability to show item info in Finder. I used to be able to see the number of files in a folder, the resolution of a photo, or the file size (if it’s an archive), but for some reason, Dropbox thinks that “available offline” is more useful than that. I am surprised I could not find anything on this. It seems like I am the only one concerned with this issue. Maybe there is a simple toggle somewhere in the settings that I am missing. Unfortunately, today I found out that your files can be marked “available offline” but still be in the cloud, and that is a deal-breaker for me. However, my annual subscription just renewed, so I’d like to find out how to remove this annoying “available offline” phrase and see my file/folder info until I find a replacement.
Office Downloading Files Even Though Locally Synced through MacOS App
One thing our users have noticed is that in order to take advantage of the Co-Authoring ability, Word or Excel files need to be opened through File ➜ Open ➜ Dropbox (Beta) and navigating to the file. This causes Office to then display a "downloading" window and download the file even when it is already locally synced on the computer via the Desktop app. When users open up a document from the Finder, Co-Authoring is not available. Are there any plans to add the ability in the office plugin to detect when a file is already local and just open the file? Or to be able to add Co-Authoring from locally open documents? Most users have "muscle" memory to navigate to the file on their desktop/Finder and open from there vs the File➜Open menus in Office.
