Hi Guys , Dropbox has been around for years now, I have been using One Drive Private Vault for many years - only reason I switched to Dropbox is because your Vault function is available on Mac Os - For the Love of God you have had so many users Ask you to create a option that allows the user to extend the timer before the vault just closes suddenly , while a user is still working a file! My Lord , all your developers need to do is create a popup banner saying " your vault is about to lock in 1 min ! you want to keep it open for another 5min, 10min or 20min or do you want to lock it right now!. This will most certainly keep many MS One Drive users from staying, What the heck is the issue and why haven't you given us this option yet . I just Spend $137 dollars on your Dropbox Plus version to be treated with the most frustrating feature - considering a refund !!!1 just get it done developers760Views4likes2CommentsVault opening time more flexible.
I would like the vault opening time in Dropbox to be more flexible. I often work on documents stored in the vault for several hours, but the vault automatically closes after just a few minutes. This makes it inefficient, as I have to download the document, work on it outside the vault, and then reopen the vault to save my changes. It would be much more convenient if I could extend the vault's closing time to suit my working needs, allowing me to keep working on the document without interruptions.130Views2likes2CommentsVault disappeared on iPhone app after last update
I’m running iOS 17.1 and DropBox app version 352.2.2. Since the last DropBox app update Vault is no longer accessible. I’ve been able to access it on the desktop site only. I’ve cleared the cache and signed out but Vault does not show up. Is this a known issue with this version or is it a feature going away on the app?3.2KViews0likes17CommentsI'd like to be able to open/close my Vault folder via the Dropbox icon menu in my system tray
it seems that the to open the "vault" folder I have use the (system) file explorer to goto the dropbox folder then find the "vault" entry, select it and enter the pin to open it --- and to close it I have to use the explorer again -- I would suggest that this process move to the db icon in the system tray (windows)559Views0likes1CommentWill the 'Dropbox for MacOS on File Provider' update become required? If so, when?
SUMMARY I'm trying to find out if/when the 'Dropbox for MacOS on File Provider'update will be required/forced for all users. The loss of desktop support for Dropbox Vault is significant enough for me that I'm already looking for alternative cloud storage solutions, so I'm hoping to find out how much time I have before I need to make my transition. Any help or direction is appreciated! Thanks all! DETAILS I currently use Dropbox Vault through macOS Finder and I was disappointed to find out today that this functionality will be removed with the new update. As far as I can tell, though, it seems we're able to continue using our current version indefinitely without much downside. I'm grateful for this, but I assume that we'll lose the option at some point, and I'm not seeing any announced timeline for when that will happen. The only official word I could find was this: "Note: While we recommend opting-in to the latest version of Dropbox for macOS on File Provider, this migration isn’t required for you to continue using Dropbox." (Dropbox Help | Expected changes with Dropbox for macOS on File Provider, emphasis added) So currently, it's recommended and not required, but there's no mention of future requirement and I wasn't able to find additional information from my searches in the Dropbox community forums or on Google. Dropbox Vault can’t open files or folders from the Dropbox desktop app. You won’t be able to access files and folders stored in Dropbox Vault on the Dropbox desktop app. You can still access your Vault files on the web. I'm very frustrated with this. I have a lot of stuff in the Vault that I need to access multiple times a day, and every time I open it it starts syncing, which takes time, CPU usage, energy, everything. Then the Vault times out and locks and the files are deleted from the computer. Repeat. Can't I just have a Vault password but have the files permanently synced? I set up my Vault folder about a couple of months ago. I used it to back up about 100 - 200 GB of data from my old computer. Today I log into Vault and it had me set up a PIN again (?) and when I accessed the Vault the 100 - 200 GB of backup data I had uploaded is gone. The data was definitely there the last time I checked; and I explicitly remember uploading it because it took a couple of hours. What happened to all of my data? There was no notification that it was deleted. And why did I have to set up a PIN again?2.7KViews0likes8Comments
